Voila: The net weight with wheel engine should be about 40 pounds. Not a cupcake, but not too bad. Oh, btw, get 100 miles to the gallon with top speed at 20 miles an hour (just under the limit that requires a license to operate...see your local laws.)

If it were more cost effective upfront, I know I'd be down with the concept. I wish I were in a position where it would be more practical with a shorter commute.

Ha. (Although, I do believe I read where it was actually designed/invented by an American from MIT, I believe they licensed the bike with the SwissBike name.)


Considering oil just hit it's highest mark ever this week at $82, if one spends $20/wk on gas x 52 wks = $1040 per year currently, it would pay for itself in roughly 14 - 18 months asssuming you had a 10 mile commute to work which would be a tank of gas a week ($2.50) x 14 months = $35/yr plus the equipment cost of around $1300 ($695 Bike/$599 Revowheel.) You can find some Montague Bikes (with the Hummer brand logo) for half of that on good ol' craigslist to cut down on the cost.

Of course, you could always buy a Vespa, but they don't fold.


And rain and inclement weather is another issue...but an intriguing concept nonetheless if one lives within a relatively short distance from where they work (ten miles or less.)

or you could take the Huffy you just bought for 25 bucks at Walmart- get a 7 dollar hacksaw, cut it in half in and hinge it with 2 hinges (1.99, Home Depot) and save a bunch of cash.

i had the community bike at liberty...

it was an old mongoose from the 80's bmx bike...chromemoly frame and eveyrthing...i would randomly see it in various spots throughout campus...sometimes i'd take it back to the dorm, sometimes it would end up back there...

anyway, i sold the frame on ebay for 145 bucks plus shipping....little did people know that back was the bomb back in teh late 80's early 90's...not the crap they put out for walmart now...
