I know they come off as "too good to be true" or pyramid scams, but I recently signed up for one just for the heck of it. I'm talking, of course, about those sites that claim you can receive a free video game system if you complete a certain number of offers, and/or get a certain number of people referred to their service through you.

I'm not here to beg for referrals but I was curious if anybody has done anything like this and how it turned out for you?

I am currently signed up and am trying to receive a Nintendo Wii. Some of the other prizes are XBox 360, PS3, Nintendo DS, PSP, or $250 PayPal credit. Since the beginning of August I have completed my two offers and had one referral (who hasn't completed their offers). So I'm still essentially seven referrals short.

Look forward to hearing your story or feedback.

I know several people who did those a while ago and got free Mac minis and iPods. I'm sure some of them are scams, but as long as you're signing up for offers you can cancel and don't mind pimping it out to your friends, they're probably ok.

there's actually a website/blog of a guy who does all of these he can find and he says if they're legit or not. I can't find it, though. Anyway, he get's all kinds of HDTV's and new gadgets and stuff. It is relatively hard work and in most cases to get the good stuff, you do have to put some money into it.

If you find that blog anytime I'd be interested in checking it out! Find out if I'm in a dead end or not. :)
