Sandwiches--masculine or feminine?

The topic came up in the office today, and two male faculty/staff members insisted that certain sandwiches were masculine (normally eaten by men), and other sandwiches were feminine (normally eaten by women). The difference usually involves the type of meat and sometimes even the bread.

Please chime in on this issue--what would you consider to be a masculine or a feminine sandwich?

I think it sounds like someone's office doesn't have enough work to do.

Lean pastrami is the manliest meat out there. I drool just thinking about it. Not that I normally drool over masculine qualities.

How about chicken salad?

What types of breads should I avoid to retain my status on the man team?

Wheat bread is the best, as its the most natural bread.

However, I don't like sandwiches from the northeast.....too much meat on the sandwich.

It's like a pound of meat with two crackers.

"You want anything else?"

"Yeah, a loaf of bread, & some other people." - Mitch

my rule of thumb

any sandwhich without meat excluding pb&j = female
any sandwhich with meat and pb&j = male

funny, I was just gonna say- 3 types of meat, approx 4 inches high, thats about right.

lettuce, tomato, oil and vinegar.

also at least 2 cheeses- I prefer Provolone and Swiss, often add American as a 3rd.

binds you up nicely.

I order the club sandwich all the time, but I'm not even a member, man. I don't know how I get away with it.

"Let me ask you something.....how do you feel about frilly toothpicks?"

"I'm for 'em."

"Well this club is formed. Spread the word on menus nationwide."

"I like my sandwiches with alfalfa sprouts."

"Well then you're not in the stinking club."

As a rule, I think many women are self-conscious about what they eat, especially in front of men. Thus, they may choose to order something a little lighter or healthier.

I also think it would probably be attractive for some women to see men who eat healthy. By contrast, other women may find it repulsive when a man chooses to abstain from meat.

Seinfeld had an episode where Jerry's girlfriend was turned off because he ordered a salad at a steak and potato type restaurant. Jerry tried to make up for it by claiming he loved to eat the mutton she had prepared on their next date. Jerry ended up sticking the mutton in coat pockets.

As for myself, I like to eat healthy, but in my town the choices are limited so many times I end up eating what tastes best. I don't really like sandwiches though.

I actually can't eat sandwiches at all since I'm allergic to wheat, so this is really pointless to me. Although potato bread I can substitute when I can find it.

Thanks, bl, now I'm looking at Hedburg quotes for the rest of the day.

So, now I have an issue. I love BLT's and Tomato Sandwiches. There, I admited it. I feel secure in my Manliness. Hey, you know what I always say: "Anything tastes good with Bacon, wrap some around a page or 2 or fishwrap and it would even taste good".

What about wraps?

wraps are so gay. Unless it's a chili cheese wrap from sonic. Although I've been known to eat a chicken tender wrap on occasion. That doesn't make it right though.
