100k Day - August 14, 2007

Thank you, Flame Fans!
Thanks to your passion for LU athletics, our board has reached a milestone. Today we tallied 100,000 posts for the first time, and we're adding more at a rapid pace. This month alone we've had almost eleven thousand visits, 37% of which were new, and we're only 14 days in! Last month we transferred over 100GB of data out from the server. When you consider that the bulk of our content is text, that's pretty phenomenal. We've also more than doubled our average number of visitors to the site each day, which means that while a lot of you are contributing, we also have a lot of folks who are reading what you write.
Bigger and better things are in the works for the site, but this board will always be at the heart. Thanks for your passion, folks. You all make the site what it is.

Let me echo El Scorcho's sentiments. When we started up this board 19 months ago we had a vision of building a community of folks that would help expand the passion of all things Liberty. To that extent I feel FlameFans has been an unequivocable success. But we are just getting started.
Let's all make an effort to spread the word of the our community and let's see how quickly we can reach 1000 members & 500k in posts.
Viva FlameFans!

saw we were at 99981 just a bit after noon today and then got sidetracked at work.
Darn sick and injured people.
props to the original INNOCENT BYSTANDER for getting all this started, SLY for taking it to the next level, and SCORCHO for
literally keeping it going.

Great job guys. Hey Scorcho, any chance of making a mobile friendly page for those of us with Treo or blueberry devices?

This is something that I'd like to get changed. We've got 100k posts and 10% of them from one poster. The other 90% is probably from about 15-20 others. I don't know if there's any way to encourage more participation, it's not like you can charge any less. And on other sites, I'm mostly just a reader myself. I'd really like to get an influx of more "regulars" here. I hope lurkers don't feel intimidated by our "picking-on" nature or my superior wit.

Actually...I'll look into that. Wouldn't mind that myself. Can't say it'll happen in a hurry, but I'll put it on the back burner.

Thank you sir. Incidently, I have broused the site and posted via my dial-up ntelos treo, but it was majorly painful.

I have posted from my PSP (Playstation Portable), but the typing aspect is a bit slower even though the connection was good.

Boy, I take a couple days of vacation and I miss the big event. I need to get my priorities back in order.
When I started the Firehouse...gosh, I don't know how long ago...it was mostly out of a sense of frustration at my inability to find any decent info on Liberty sports on the internet. I never ever imagined that it would eventually turn into what Sly Fox and others have made it. At the same time, it is exciting to see the progress that is going on in the Liberty athletic department. I look forward to seeing where the two can go together.
