To those who see me mostly in the basketball blogs, I am reaching out to fellow Flamefans for feedback.

I am looking to re-locate to the Winston-Salem area for a job. I have never been there, so if anyone can fill me in on good places to live, the area as a whole, anything, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks and I look forward to your responses.

Are you wanting to live in the city or in the area? How much are you looking to spend? Kids?

The only downside to Clemmons is the Forsyth County taxes. I'm not 100% sure how bad they are, but they're not quite as bad as W-S city taxes (which are horrible). I'd say northern Davidson County or King (where I'm from). We've got a ton of new neighborhoods, taxes are lower than W-S, and it's a quick drive. We're turning into "Clemmons North" basically. They're putting the types of housing that was in Clemmons in King because of lower taxes and the same drive.

Thanks for the feedback

I am married with one kid who is only 1. I would be in sales covering a territory with W-S being in the center of the territory. I guess living in HP could be possible. I looked into Kernersville?? My territory would go to Danville, South Boston, Elkin I think its called, Greensboro, etc.

Is King the name of the city/town?

So please tell me a little bit more about the taxes?

If I make this move I will coming to Lynchburg quite a bit and of course root for the Flames when they come to HP? Hopefully i can meet some of you.

Thanks again

I actually just got off the phone with my dad, who knows the market and travels more than most people in the piedmont of North Carolina.

Pfafftown and Lewisville would be good places. Lewisville is right next to Clemmons which is where Smoothie recommended. Lewisville is right on 421 which would take you towards Elkin or runs into 40 the opposite direction which takes you to Greensboro/Danville.

If you want slightly lower taxes and a slightly more rural living, King would be great. We're still semi-rural but growing. We're kind of like the Forest area to Lynchburg. It's 40 minutes to Elkin, 40 minutes to Greensboro, and about an hour and 20 minutes to Danville.

Let me know if you want more info on specific neighborhoods.

WWJFD,

I sent you a pm, I'm pretty much researching myself right now, so SJ (and dad) probably know it better than I do. In fact, I may ask SJ some stuff later. Anyways, I gave you my two cents but I haven't been here long enough to give you concrete advice. I have heard the same things about Lewisville and Clemmons. I have heard to stay away from Kernersville.

Clemmons is next to Yadkin and actually right over Davie. Parts of Winston are in Davidson County, but I don't think Clemmons is.

I'd recommend Clemmons or Winston-Salem. I grew up in Kernersville and it's great too. I now live in High Point near the Wendover/Eastchester split right by the Palladium and love it here. Winston-Salem is 20 minutes away and Greensboro is less than 10. Anywhere in the Triad can be a great place to live.
