Seven dead, according to today's paper; the bridge was being repaired when it collapsed.

To me this is so unreal. I can't get a grasp on driving on an interstate bridge at rush hour and the just falling or jumping into the river. May god be with the families and especially the survivors as they work through the memories.

this will be a mess for days- rescue and recovery is going to be unbelievably complicated, not to mention dangerous.

The stories of the rescuers (both official and civilian) are amazing. We owe you and all of the other medics around our constant thanks.

Pete and I were in Minneapolis for a friend's wedding a few years back. This is the view from his appartment, about 3/4 of a mile away from the bridge. I was blown away by the height of the structure. It is unbelievable that more people weren't seriously injured.

Sorry about the quality...this was taken before I had a digital camera. We had a few good pics from the walking bridge in the foreground, but we were facing the other direction. :?

We were at VBS when we heard and gathered to pray. A kid from my youth groups mom was on the bridge but got out ok. This is just unreal. We have many friends who were in the traffic and just passed over it or did not get to it yet. It will screw up traffic a bit. The hard part is the wait as the currents are so strong that the divers are having a hard time with all the rubble around to find the 20+ missing. Our prayers are with those who are waiting!
