My Wife's Pontiac Trans Sport mini van has 145+K and is dying a slow, painful, and expensive death. I dumped over 1K into it last month and its still not right.
GM and Ford have stopped making mini-vans and I'm not a big Dodge fan. We are looking for something 2 or 3 years old with less than 50K miles. We have zeroed in on the Honda Odyssey and the Toyota Sienna. Looking for good or bad feedback on both or other ideas.

both are your best option for a minivan....they have gotten rave reviews everywhere....we are looking at an odessey...but i'm not opposed to a sienna if a deal comes around...

you've got the right research (although GM still does make a minivan). Toyota and Honda blow the competition out of the water and it's not even close. I've been watching them on ebay for the last 2 months or so and the Sienna tends to resale for a bit cheaper than the Honda so when I make the plunge, that's probably where I'll go.

Any thoughts on Nissan Quest?

Honda/Toyota, only way to go for minivans right now. I prefer the Odyssey myself, but the Sienna is almost identical. Neither of them are cheap, but well worth it. And SUV's do not even compare to minivans in terms of capacity, both for passengers and cargo. I'm looking into getting a used Sequoia right now, which will seat as much as a minivan, but if that doesn't work out, my eyes will be focused on an Odyssey, which is what I really want (the Sequoia is the wife's pick right now).

We have a Chevy full size van with three kids that are older it seems to be the only way they won't touch each other on the long trips to Florida and back. We drove a Dodge Caravan(rental) and loved it but it started to make some noises on the way home that made us glad it was just a rental. My sil/bil love their Oddessy and my bil loves his Honda Pilot. My bro likes his Chrysler mini van. My husband will not let us have a mini van - too unmanly or something like that so I am looking at the Ford Freestyle which will soon be the Edge with the third seat option.

My wife and I looked at the Odyssey as well. For what it's worth, it's the Consumer Reports top pick. I do like my Pilot, but if we were going to go the mini-van route, we'd definitely be going with the Odyssey.

by the way 03 and 04 is when Honda and Toyota changed their van, so if you're looking to not spend a ton, you'll want to get the last years of the previous generation.

4 year old Sienna, used to haul 4 kids, hockey teams, lax teams, etc.
It has been to Toronto to the Outer Banks and EVERYWHERE in-between
best auto ever

My dad has driven a Sienna the past couple of and loves it. The auto doors are annoying to me but whatever. I drive a stripped down Sienna at work and it seems to have enough punch in traffic and rides nicely.

I've got nothing on the Odyssey.

Anyone Kia Sedona?

hey it's safe. But that's because it's basically a giant steel cage. From what I understand Kia's aren't as big of turd buckets as the used to be but that isn't saying much.

kia...

ahahahahahahahahaha

sorry those things are junk. luconn is correct...they weigh the same as an m1 abram...make sure you get the 100,000 mile warranty because you'll need it.

a friends dad worked at a dealership that took on kia....he bought one for his daughter....it was the biggest turd i've ever seen...

This is a funny thread. I don't have kids but the Sienna and Odyssey are both nice looking for mini-vans.
