Well, it's July which means that football season and my customary hibernation from the board are fast approaching. Unfortunately, this time around, my hiatus must start early and, even more unfortunately, be permanent.

You see, when I joined the board a year and a half ago, there were less than a hundred registered users and this was just a tiny little corner of the internet. Now, however, FlameFans has quintupled in size and is, arguably, as widely read in LU circles as the Champion. Possibly more so. I have always communicated on here as if I were having a private conversation among friends but, given the growth of the board, that can clearly no longer be the case.

Furthermore, while I have never gone to great lengths to hide my real-life identity, it has always been my position that the names that each of us go by outside of the board are our own business -- particularly, in conversation with those who might read this board but not post -- and, unless, we choose to "out" ourselves, they should remain that way. Sadly, at least one of the other members of our little community does not feel the same and has not offered me that same courtesy.

The combination of these factors has, to a degree, affected how well I feel that I can perform my job while continuing to be an active member here. Obviously, this will not do. I certainly do not wish to just bail on the friendships that I've made here but, as much as I like you people, this is all proving to be too cumbersome and I cannot allow my association with FlameFans to interfere with my ability to properly support LU athletics or, even more so, my ability to support my family.

Thanks for hanging out with me, y'all. It's been fun. I hope you understand. Sorry.

Bye.

I'll be honest, I hate to see you make this decision. But I fully understand the conflict between personal and professional identities. I don't believe you have ever posted anything that crossed the line. But I can appreciate your position.

You have been a tremendous poster and I have a feeling the nature of your departure is not in fact permanent. But until then your presence will be missed.

I hope this doesn't preclude you from grabbing burger off the grill at tailgates. :tailgate

This does bring up a valid point about the protection of identities. Just because you don't mind letting your personal information be known to the general public, it doesn't mean that everyone on the board feels the same way. So let's make a concerted effort to not out anybody on here against their wishes.

Bummer, man. Well we don't work that far from each other, so we certainly don't need the board to keep in touch. Swing by and introduce yourself sometime.

Lib the way you spelled bye it made me think you had a bye week and you would be back. You can't leave permanently man. You are one of the people that make flamefans as entertaining as it clearly is. As one who has made his persona known from day 1 by selecting my actual nickname, I can say that it has forced me to stay out of certain discussions so I understand as I am sure everyone else does as well. I can honestly say that You, Luconn and Medic make me laugh on a daily basis with your sense of humor. More than that though man you keep a lot of people in check with your unique perspective. I hope you reverse your decision but I understand....It is pretty cool how this place has grown though. (Note to self: I may need to re-gloss my Liberty resume with all the new eyes out there :!: See guide to flamefans for the meaning to that reference). Anyway, man, hopefully we will see you at some tailgates this season....2 months!!!!! Go FLAMES!!!!

That's the part that bugs the crap out of me.

create an alias in a couple of weeks and stay away from football topics. Problem solved. :topicclosed

i guess i don't understand...its a messageboard about lu sports....not some furry/hentai website were anonymity is actually needed/preferred....

its funny when a message board starts off its small and there are a core group....then it starts to get bigger (which is what you want out of a forum) and then a few of the core members start complaining about the "way it used to be" and leave... i've seen this quite possibly at every forum i visit that is pretty new....and i actually didn't expect one from here until football season started...

The sense of humor/sarcasm will be easily attirbuted to a new alias. Lib...you will be missed. I appreciated the sarcasm very much.

It will take 10 of us to even approach the level of sarcasm.

I agree...and some bosses are not fans of these forums. Didn't we lose AG for this reason? I certainly understand Lib's point.

Henry Henry Henry, You above ALL people should know how thin skinned and sensitive some people are about any idea or thought that LU is not a Utopia. If you do not portray a Shiny Happy People Face then your loyalty is questioned. You are then taken to Room 13 in the underground bunker located beneath the "Mansion" where they use their Clockwork Orange/Brazil and some techniques you use on the Island to ................. I have said to much already

LU is not the perfect world???? Maybe I have already spent time in the Clockwork orange room.

Aeosop must have written a fable about this at some time or another...

Did we? I didn't even know he worked for the school. He really shouldn't have been so anti-monogram.

I don't understand why some people don't like this board. Sure we like to critisize some, but we praise too. If you're doing your job well, you've got nothing to worry about. Any dumb rumors or misinformation that's posted is quickly debunked. People who may be wrongfully critisized are supported by everyone else. And in the end, we're all just a bunch of losers with no real power to do anything anyway.

Yea, he said his employer told him not to post here.
