I tried to get the people at apple to take my twins as a downpayment but they wanted CASH!

Guess I will have to make due with my motoQ

I just wish my service was better. Alltel is the strongest signal here and with the rural places my mail route goes I need me some serious signal strength!

Was our other thread about this not good enough?

I'll probably wait a couple years. At least until the 60 gig version comes out.
Hopefully by then it'll support Flash too.

will it be made available to all carriers any time down the road?

It'll be at least two years before it's non-exclusive to AT&T.
I'm not buying one, only because my employer provides me with a phone. Otherwise, I'd have sprung for it. It's not perfect, but for a first try, Apple certainly showed up the rest of the market. It'll be interesting to see where it goes from here.

"It's awesome, it's the best thing I ever saw in my life," said New York private detective Jerry Gregory. "Once people see this phone they are going to want one. Everybody I show this phone wants one, even people who were anti-iPhone."
"It's not like it's a computer, it's not like it's a phone, it's like a living sculpture in my hands," said Dale Larson, a mobile business consultant in San Francisco.
The few negatives I've seen so far have been: 1. AT&T screwed up some activations. 2. AT&T's network kind of sucks and 3. Learning to use a touchscreen is a little challenging at first.

I addressed this in the other post. Again, probably why we should have just stayed with that one.
Anyway, I'm definitely part of
The Cult of Mac. Apple users are probably the most brand loyal customers that exist, but it's not without reason. On top of just being a normal Mac user, Apple is partly responsible for me having a career in IT, and I'm forever loyal because of it.

Easy there. If you were watching the vid in the article I linked, it was taken in San Francisco. There's no accounting for San Fran.

Apple over the weekend sold more than 700,000 iPhones to rocket past analyst predictions and shatter AT&T's record by selling more iPhones in three days than Motorola's RAZR did in its first month.

NEW YORK (AP) - A 17-year-old hacker has broken the lock that ties Apple's iPhone to AT&T's wireless network, freeing the most hyped cell phone ever for use on the networks of other carriers, including overseas ones.
George Hotz of Glen Rock, N.J., confirmed Friday that he had unlocked an iPhone and was using it on T-Mobile's network, the only major U.S. carrier apart from AT&T that is compatible with the iPhone's cellular technology. In a video posted to his blog, he holds an iPhone that displays "T-Mobile" as the carrier.

as with any apple product, i'd recommend always waiting for the 2nd gen at a minimum. they always seem to put out a much more superior product in subsequent generations.

I disagree. I've owned first-gen Apple models four times. Never had a problem with one of them.
Besides, ALL Apple products are superior.

i disagree. i paid 1200 for my dell. the closest apple laptop with the same specs (but based on the tests still doesnt perform as well) costs over 2000 dollars. definitely not worth the money, especially since OSX won't run hardly any applications/games i ahve or want unless I install windows on it, but that would be defeating the purpose of having an apple.
which would you rather have, the first gen ipod where you couldnt charge or change the battery, or the current gen video ipod? i rest my case. if the zune would have had a 30+GB hard drive, i probably would have bought that, but the iPod was the only one with a 30+GB hard drive when i bought one. sure apple products are flashy, but i've come to realize, mainly with computers, that I can get just as good of a product, if not better, for substantially lower price. sure apples are all fancy looking and what not, but I don't buy a computer for prettiness.

Friend of mine got an iPhone for a wedding gift and it's amazing. Unfortunately, AT&T documents every data transfer in your bill even if you have the unlimited plan. His phone bill was normal price but was also 110 pages long.
