Does anyone know why I have trouble staying logged in to the board? I enter my user name, password, and choose log me on automatically. The next time I come to the board whether it's in a couple hours or a couple days it acts like it's never seen me before. And I re-enter all my info. It gets a bit tedious after a dozen times.

After I login in, it only sometimes shows me which posts are new. I'm a computer geek IRL so I don't think it's a user issue.

Any ideas?

Some ISPs & browsers don't like our cookies for some reason. When I am at work about every third time I visit our site I have to log on twice in a row. And I admit it is annoying. I apologize for the inconvenience.

at a different station yesterday- every FREAKIN' time I logged in I had to do it twice- and of course it erased all the new post indicators.

I will note that certain links on this board will require you to log in a second (or third) time. However, general use of the forums should not require this.

It should not be an ISP issue. However, if you're using any kind of "anti" software or an older browser, it wouldn't surprise me if those things are giving you troubles.

As a side note, unless I log out on my computer, I never have to log in twice. If I'd seen this issue myself, I'd certainly be on top of it. Let me know details and I'll try to help out however I can.

I got really angry and had to go eat Fritos (the whole bag. and the 1.99 size, not the little .99 cent-er)

So you log in, and then what happens? Does it redirect you to the forum page or does it ask you to log in again?

It redirects you to the forum page but you're not logged in.

It rarely ever does it to me in Firefox but almost every time in IE.

Thanks. Having a time-frame gives me a clue. I think it may be something I can fix. We're about to have some downtime for board upgrades anyway, so I'll try to knock this one out when I do that.

The site didn't load for me the other day (problem on our end, not the board) and I was thinking to myself, "I remember when that used to happen every day for 5-6 hours at a time. man that sucked".

nick, seems like mid-days is the worst. Also, user name shows up in the "logged on" list but you are NOT logged in.

when you go back and re-log the 2nd or 3rd time, you show logged in but the posts are re-set.

also, about once a day- I've noticed the whole board just locks up and you get the white page of death ("xxxx not found")

it is identified as such, but somehow keeps coming thru

Spam detection software, running on the system "host.xxxxxxxxx.com", has identified this incoming email as possible spam. The original message has been attached to this so you can view it (if it isn't spam) or label similar future email. If you have any questions, see the administrator of that system for details.

It identifies it so that you create a filter (or rule) in your email to send it to a junk mailbox. (Or the trash if you prefer.) If it just deleted it, there's too high of a risk that messages you actually want wouldn't get through.

When I use my own computer its fine because I have the remember me thing checked...but whenever I am at school using a computer there and log on, I always have to log in twice and of course it erases any new post indications which is kind of annoying....it has always been like this...well, I don't know about that, but it has been for a long time anyways...this has probably not helped at all....

I think I've got the login problem narrowed down. I just need to reboot into Vista to confirm. That's not happening right now, but I should be able to fix this when I do the other maintenance this summer.

I don't think you were here, when we had that downtime several months ago. Talk about rough! I didn't know what to do.

That was unplanned downtime, which is the worst because you never know when it will end.

This time around I should be able to give you guys a definitive amount of time that the board will be down. Well, assuming everything goes right.
