What's everybody doing this summer?
SCAR has been to South Padre Island, TEXAS, and I'm writing this post from the Days Inn in Baltimore across the street from Camden Yards. I'm going to Orioles/Rockeis game tonight and tomorrow with my dad to celebrate my 46th birthday on June 11th. I just wish I had a FF T-shirt for a pic at Camden Yards. Go O's!

Following the Lynchburg Post 16 Legion baseball team around Central and SW VA.
Taking a couple of summer classes...one DLP and the other a week-long intensive in Education statistics...both in the name of maintaining Quiz Bowl eligibility.

Taking one for the team: I like that already!

I'm currently sitting less than 100 yards away from the edge of the Atlantic in Kill Devil Hills, NC.
This was just a three-day trip to visit my Great Uncle and Aunt in Manteo, though. If we vacation again this year it will likely be at a spot no greater than thirty minutes from where I am currently located.

Leaning toward Canadian Rockies, been there a couple of times, but haven't seen anything any prettier anywhere, outside of my current roommates.

Not sure it would really qualify as vacation, but I am taking 3 church youth groups to Falls Creek for church camp starting Monday. Falls Creek just keeps getting better and I reccomend it highly if anyone is looking for a great place to take the group for camp!

62, that's Jim Baucom's church at Columbia Baptist and his camp director is Reuben Todd, who was our church's scoutmaster (where I was his assistant), and he & his wife came to my Sunday school class at Rivermont Baptist in Lynchburg. 'Glad to hear you like the camp. If you see Reuben or his wife Nicole, tell him Jim says "hello".

Jim,
NOt sure were talking about the same camp? I am talking about falls creek in Davis Oklahoma. You can check it out at
www.skopos.com. So many programs and events come and go and leave the kids more or less the same, but year after year falls creek has been a life changer! If it is the same camp I'd love to give a shout out to anyone youd like. I'm hoping the wife and kids and I can make it back to the burg this summer for a short visit, but so far its been an insanely busy year.

With the price of gas and the backlog on passports, we kept our vacation plans simple this summer. We just got back from San Antonio (SeaWorld, Riverwalk, etc.) and we'll head down to Galveston for beach time in the next week or so.

Flying out for a long week early in July--half in Lynchburg to paint some rooms in the house and half in Charleston for fun. Anyone need a very nice rental home in Lynchburg--Boonsboro area?

Going to Myrtle Beach for a week in August, and probably head to the beach, Kings Dominion and/or Water Country/Busch Gardens.

I'm a big baseball nut and have been a die hard Orioles fan since I was 8. I remember those Oriole cheers from the 79 WOrld Series, with Sid Bream doing his best Wild Bill Hagy impersonation. Anyways...one of my wedding presents that my wife got me was a letter and autographed baseball from Cal Ripkin Jr (and a Gibson F9 mandolin), and we are going up to Cooperstown, NY in late July for the Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. I'm really looking forward to it. Frank Robinson will be there and I hope I get a chance to add to my Orioles collection. I have 4things signed by Brooks...why not Frank?

Going to Philly and DC in July but that doesn't count as vacation does it? Both of those are home to me. I have 4 homes now I guess, Northern, VA, Philly, Lynchburg and now Richmond...Gonna miss Lynchburg tho but I will be there a ton in the fall and winter with all the sporting events! I may take a flamefans pic in DC and Philly though just for that thread we have.
