Raised in a Christian home, he still believed in God, although he was not committed.

He has avoided "celebrity Christianity," because "it's really easy to focus on Alice Cooper and not on Christ. I'm a rock singer. I'm nothing more than that. I'm not a philosopher. I consider myself low on the totem pole of knowledgeable Christians. So, don't look for answers from me."

*Side note: I also read elsewhere within the last year or so that one of the guitarists from KORN had quit KORN and converted to Christ.

Alice Cooper, who appeared in Wayne’s World and occasioned the famous movie line “We’re not worthy” is a believer. Sixteen years ago, he quit drinking and said to God, “I’m not worthy.”

This week he made a bit of a splash in Arizona where his Solid Rock Foundation is helping to build a Christian teen center. It’s designed to keep kids off the streets and give them a chance to play music and interact with Christian youth workers.

I’m not sure how public Cooper’s faith has been, but I’ve known about it for almost 5 years. A mutual friend who played golf with Cooper once warned me I should never get him started on his faith or “he’ll talk your ear off.”

Welch was raised in a Christian home in the industrial farm town of Bakersfield, California. Early in his life, Welch claims that he was different from most kids and was picked on a lot in school. His one passion was music. Welch had started playing the guitar at a very young age. While in high school, Welch met James 'Munky' Shaffer, another budding guitarist, and they would play together often.

On February 22, 2005, Korn's management announced that after 13 years, Welch had parted ways with the band, citing that he had "...chosen the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior, and will be dedicating his musical pursuits to that end." [1]

In July 2005, Welch appeared on CNN's feature-format program "People In The News" where he admitted to having been addicted to alcohol, methamphetamines, Xanax, and sleeping pills[4] before being reintroduced to the Christian faith.

Alice has been open about his faith for quite some time now. Actually I seem to remember him being on a talk show of some kind at the same time as Dr. Falwell and the two standing up against some harsh attacks on Christianity.

Didn't even know he was a believer. Pretty cool.

He's also very active in coaching youth baseball.

Brian on Last Call last night with Carson Daly (re-reun from October 8th) talking about the book. Lots of exposure about his conversion; He seems very genuine and truly at peace (you can see it in his face as he speaks.)

Somebody's gotta get that dude to enroll in LU Distance Ed a la Jason Elam...A former KORN guitarist as an LU alum...that would be a fun reference to drop in casual conversation.

I heard this a while back...I wasnt sure if I should believe it or not but after reading this I believe it's the real deal....that's good news!
