Its been interesting seeing the Left unable to hide their joy in the wake of Dr. Falwell's passing. To me it is a testament to his tremendous work.
Knight Column: Getting a Kick Out of Falwell's Death
Posted by Kristen Fyfe on May 18, 2007 - 16:30.

Bob Knight, Director of the Culture and Media Institute offers these thoughts on the media's treatment of the death of Rev. Jerry Falwell.

In many of his talks to Liberty University students, the Rev. Jerry Falwell emphasized the importance of “finishing well.”

On Tuesday, May 15, he was at the top of his game when he unexpectedly died in the college office where he was planning more expansions of the fast-growing university that he founded in 1971.

The Rev. Falwell did a lot of things well, ticking off liberals right up to the end. How else would he have garnered the kind of tribute from a major newspaper’s religion writer that was headlined, “Sigh of relief over Falwell death.”

To make sure no one mistook her, Chicago Sun-Times Religion Writer Cathleen Falsani’s May 18 column explains her reaction to the news about Dr. Falwell on May 15.

From the Pueblo, CO fishwrap:
Jack Wilson column

Falwell's essence fundamentally frightening

Image

His "higher" education was at an unaccredited Bible college. Lacking legitimate credentials, he assumed an air of culture and erudition. He was awarded honorary doctorates from two unaccredited schools, and insisted he be called "Doctor." Falwell was a doctor like KFC's Colonel Sanders was a military officer.

Not a transparent scoundrel like Jim Bakker or Jimmy Swaggart, without the Yale polish of Pat Robertson or the vicious cruelty of Fred Phelps, he displayed a kind of encapsulated integrity, like when he argued that Bakker's PTL Club Heritage USA complex in Fort Mill, S.C., was competing unfairly against tax-paying tourist attractions, and that the running of hotels and amusement parks should be separated from the tax-exempt ministry.

This is the first time the left can run their mouths without having to have Dr. Falwell put them in their place with his blunt and bold response. What's been going on from the far left lately reminds me of the little punks on the playground who are frightened of the big kids at school but still talk trash when they're out of earshot and can't respond.

These are the same people who claim Dr. Falwell "hated" people.
These are the same people who can only talk about 4 or 5 comments over the man's 73 year life.
These are the same people who won't say that Tinky Winky was first cited in about 10 national publications before the NLJ.
These are the same people who ignore Dr. Falwell being protested from the true far-right.
These are the same people who cry about the view of the anti-Christ being Jewish without mentioning it's a legit scriptural interpretation.
These are the same people who claim to be offended any time a Christian calls out a sin in society.

But here we are... every insecure crybaby with a web-cam is posting to YouTube trying to make fun of a man before he's even been buried. Every liberal activist who claims to be a Christian has now posted an anti-Jerry column with a proffer at the end like 'rest in peace'. As if people can't see through that. Many are simply media's token Christians.

The left often talks about how Christians cannot think freely and they claim that "tolerance" is the standard but it's in times like these we realize why men like Dr. Falwell are important in the national discourse. Nice gets walked on in our society and it was men like Dr. Falwell who said 'Don't tread on me.' so the left didn't like him.

On the 16th Chicago Sun Times finally ran a small column speaking to this ignorance. Writer Richard Roeper quoted some of the hateful things said about Dr. Falwell and then noted at the end of his article "But if you're clucking like a fifth-grader who has won a playground fight, that says more about you than the man who died."

When it comes to articles from the left I don't read them, I would probably get more out of stories from the National Enquirer.
