This is the carry-over from the Tips & Tricks thread. Any really useful websites that people have found. Here are a couple I try to keep handy:

www.RefDesk.com
I posted about this on the other thread. Information galore, anything you need to look up will be here, and if it's not, just let the guy know. It was created by the father of Matt Drudge of the Drudge Report.

www.Bankrate.com
Good finance information.

www.ClarkHoward.com
This is the most informative show on the radio, and most of it gets translated onto the website.

www.BibleGateway.com
Just a good Bible reference site.

www.sermonindex.net
There are a bunch of other sites just like this one, but it's a really good collection of audio sermons, free for download.

www.magportal.com
All college students, put this site on your favorites list! All of the searches on this site are from magazines, so if you need sources and references for your papers, this is the easiest place to search. It made most of my MBA work really easy.

http://www.lynchburgmls.com
This is only useful to those looking to buy a house in the area. I can't believe that this site exists since the real MLS has like a $10,000 fine for any realtor who lets somebody borrow it.

The Lynchburg Realty site is cool. I just saw my neighbor's house and what they are selling it for. They took the picture from our property. That is cool.

Down here in Houston you not only have a free MLS site (har.com) but you can also access the Appraisal District and find out what houses not on the market are worth and how much they have gone up or down in recent years.

If you're using Bible Gateway, you need the Bible tool bar.

Of course, you have to be using Firefox. Haven't found one for IE that I liked except for the toolbar at bible.org -- and that's only for the NET Bible. The nice thing is that it can be hidden with the push of a button, so it's not taking up space when you don't need it open.

Does anyone know that site that LU students keep up with pretty much every TV show and every Movie ever made on it???

If I look hard enough I'll come across it again but it was neat, it had EVERYTHING that ever took place on TV on it

Are you talking about the Internet Movie Database?

Sly, the City of Lynchburg also has the Appraisal site. You can look up houses by address or owner, and property has all the financial info, a picture of the house, map, etc. It's a good way to either research or waste time. Like the other day I looked up Falwell and saw he owned a couple other pieces of property around town, and you can see how his current house was purchased. Neat stuff.

Those sites show what the tax value of the house is, not the current market value.

right, it just goes by the most recent assesment by the city. It also tells you what the property sold for previously. Still pretty helpful.

Whenever I see "FWD:" in my email I pull up http://www.snopes.com and reply to the email (reply to all, it's important) with a corresponding link about how whatever stupid story or fact is completely made up. People generally feel stupid and quite sending them to you. It acually has a lot of uses but that's the main one I use it for.

this is a link to the unclaimed property of VA. If you have some money somewhere in VA that you never got it could be found here. Each state has one. Just google up yourstatenamehere unclaimed property.

Wow LUConn I am honored that you used my name in your search. However I don't know where Leesville is and I gotta tell ya that although I'd like to think I am one of a kind, there are hundreds of Tim Scarboroughs out there. Yes I am surprised as you. I would have thought that was a unique name. I will take the 100 dollars though
