OK...this started to be discussed in another thread, so I thought I would bring it here...
I am a huge roller coaster guy. I just added it up and have ridden over 55 different roller coasters. What are some of your favorite parks/roller coasters/rides?
To me..there is nothing better than Cedar Point. This spring they will be opening their 17th roller coaster. No other amusement park can compare to that. They always have a few in the top 10 roller coasters each year. The Millenium Force is 310 feet tall and drops at an 80 degree angle. Top Thrill Dragster goes over 120 mph and then goes 420 feet into the air. Unbelievable!
So my favorites I have ridden:
Steel
- Millenium Force - Cedar Point
- Titan - Six Flags over Texas
- Riddlers Revenge - Six Flags Magic Mountain (best stand up)
- Raptor - Cedar Point - (best suspeneded coaster)
Wood
- The Beast - Kings Island (my overall favorite coaster, best woodie by far)
- Blue Streak - Cedar Point - classic with great air time
- Colossus - Six Flags Magic Mountain
- The Predator - Darien Lake

I have ridden many rollercoasters. I have no idea what any of their names are.
If you can list all of the coasters at 6 flags NE, the one in NJ, Disney World, and King's Dominion, I've been on them.

Steel:
Apollo's Chariot-Busch Gardens Williamsburg
Alpengeist (Best Inverted)-Busch Gardens Williamsburg
Flight of Fear (after they added lap bars)-Kings Dominion
Probably soon to be added to this list: Griffon-Busch Gardens Williamsburg
I haven't been to Cedar Point, so I guess my favorite park is Busch Gardens Williamsburg until I go. The few coasters that they do have are great, its a beautiful park (won that award for the past 16 years), and has GREAT food.

ATrain...you are right about Busch Gardens Williamsburg. It is beautiful. Can not wait to get down to ride Griffin...Alpengeist is a fantastic suspended, just to me...not better than Raptor in Cedar Point. Definately hoping to get down there some time this summer. Have not been in quite a few years.

Hypersonic XLC? Yeah, the launch and vertical hill are awesome, but there's nothing else after that but wasted speed.

the hulk is at Islands of Adventure....been there many times...for a while it was the fastest coaster to reach 60, not sure if that is true anymore
EDIT: I notice you said something about it earlier being at Universal, so you do know...you just forgot already haha

It's weird how Carowinds and King's Dominion can be so sucky, but be owned by the same company that owns Cedar Point. They really ought to work on expanding the roller coaster goodness to some of their other parks.

The Beast remains my #1 by a long shot. I haven't been to Cedar Point in 15 years and its been even longer for Carowinds or Kings Dominion.
The Superman is at a bunch of the Six Flags parks. They have it at Fiesta Texas in San Antonio.

I saw stars at the bottom of the first hill when I rode Millennium Force at Cedar Point. That drop is freakin' huge.

Scorcho...Cedar Fair (owns Cedar Point) just recently purchased the Carowinds, Kings Dominion and Kings Island. It has happend within the last year or so...so, they have not been able to put any money into those parks yet...
The Hulk at Islands of Adventure is so so to me. Same with Dueling Dragons. But my taste in RollerCoasters is more of speed and height. They are good coasters if you like lots of twists, turns and upside down.
Hypersonic at Kings Dominion is cool...if you like it you really have to ride Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point. 0-120 in 4 seconds, then up 420 feet. Unbelievable!
Here is a pic of Top Thrill Dragster with Millenium Force in the background (310' drop at an 80 degree angle)

I don't think you can appreciate the height of Top Thrill Dragster until you see it in person. Every picture I've ever seen makes it look like just a tall roller coaster. However, if you stand at the base and look up, you feel like your neck is going to snap. It's crazy. Even more impressive, to me, is the launch sequence. I liked standing around and watching people on the ride who weren't paying attention to when it would start. That's funny stuff.
Here's a fun vid from Top Thrill Dragster:

that made me sick watching it......how long is the line for that one?? I would be so mad if I waited in line for an hour and a half for 10 seconds of fun

It is actually 17 seconds...and the rush is worth it. It is not as good as Millenium Force, but it is different and worth it...

Reminds me why I hate roller coasters. At least that was quick though. I'm very afraid of heighths and I have been talked onto coasters and actually thought I was going to die. The last one I road was the Lock Ness Monster at Busch Gardens.
Its not the speed I mind. I can ride coasters in the dark such as FLight of Fear at KDom.

I live less than 2 hours from Cedar Point. Millennium Force is my favorite. I just rode the Hulk at Islands of Adventure last year and enjoyed it.
I must agree that nothing compares with Cedar Point. (I've been to a few 6 Flag parks and Paramount Parks along with Islands of Adventure)
