Exactly. It just means you'll need gas on May 16th.

How many times have people tried this?? It never works...if we all decided not to get gas on one day, then the very next day everybody would go and fill up and therefore completely making the protest the day before pointless...

I agree with the others that it is pointless. If you want to hurt the oil companies, get all those facebook people to sell their cars and ride bikes.

A boycott of the bigger gas stations over a longer period of time would work better (Chevron, Texaco, Exxon, Citgo, BP)...basically the people on this board are right, you're gonna need to get gas on the 14th or the 16th if you don't buy on the 15th.

I don't know why anyone would buy Citgo gas unless you were on fumes without any other option for miles. That's the Venezuelan-owned oil company that gives Hugo Chavez his muscle.

As for the other companies, they are just looking to make a buck.

yea, i'll barely look at a citgo. "fundin the terrorists" as dad says. i might push before i'd pump there (well... maybe not ). :)

well, i fill up about once a month, so it probably won't even fall on that week.

Typically, these type of protests only hurt the Mom & Pop owners of the local station - Not the companies that sell them the gas -Shell, Chevron, Exxon, etc.

welcome to email.
you will enjoy it.
however, sometimes you will receive stupid emails.
do not forward them.
no matter how many people you forward them to, Bill Gates will not send you $1,000.
you will not receive a neat message that pops up on your screen.
and the woman in africa that wants you to help her get her inheritance and offer you a million dollars will probably rape you of alot of money....

I would just like to echo the sentiment that if you're buying citgo gas, you should have your knee caps shattered.

Citgo (and Venezuela) don't make hardly any of their money off of the stations that sell Citgo branded gas. Most of it is made from U.S. oil companies buying bulk crude oil. I don't mind the symbolic protest of the company, though. Chavez can go suck a gas pump.

While you speak truth, Scorch, the fact of the matter is that the profits are much deeper when customers buy Citgo branded gas. They make money from both the upstream & downstream portions of the process.

Spoken like a man with friends in the oil business. That is a natural byproduct of living in the oil capital. "Upstream and downstream" lingo is used by those in that sector like baseball fans talk balls and strikes.
