OK...
...so I'm out running and come across an accident scene. Firetruck, first responders, LUPD all there. A vehicle coming down the road between the track and Hancock obviously tried to take the turn onto the road to David's Place and ROLLED! The vehicle...
...a GOLF CART!!! One of the green ones that grounds uses. I'm not making light of this (OK, yes I am)...but they were spine boarding the golf cart driver and the ambulance was just coming onto the scene.

This would have been about 1 PM....
...anticipating a PAMedic rant about the need for a true EMS service on campus.

OK, I know -- from personal experience -- that it's not all that hard to roll a golf cart. However, rolling it bad enough that you need a spinal board? I'm not trying to make light of the situation. I'm just trying to figure out what could have happened.

I assume these have to be gas-powered because there's no way an electric could get that type of speed.

There's a VERB phrase that only a trainer is allowed to use. :)

standard operating guidelines, I'm betting.

we're allowed to do pre-hospital c-spine clearance in the street but VA may not allow that.

and if the pt complains of ANY type of neck pain than that option is out the window. Gotta board 'em.

and you all know my feelings on LU-EMS :D

Two girls were involved. Both worked for LUPD. One of the girls apparently was bleeding pretty badly from the head and was taken from the hospital. I know it was a golf cart, but it sounds like there were some serious injuries here. Say a prayer guys.

According to the WSET website, they were part of the Parking Patrol, and both women were treated and released at the hospital.

In all seriousness, does anyone know if golf carts have SEATBELTS?

I don't think they do.

Wouldn't want to get trapped inside if it caught fire.

I'd hate it if I locked the keys inside and it was raining...
