WILLIAMSBURG –- A seven-year fundraising campaign by the College of William and Mary has passed its half-billion-dollar goal six months ahead of schedule, President Gene Nichol announced today.
As of the end of 2006, 58,303 individuals, foundations and businesses had contributed $502.7 million to the campaign, which ends June 30. The money will go to scholarships, professors’ salaries, research and building construction.
Facilities already being built or renovated through campaign funds include the Integrated Science Center, the Lake Matoaka Amphitheater, and the $75 million Alan B. Miller Hall for the business school, scheduled to open for classes in 2009.
