I'm not a big Prince fan by any means, but I have a new found respect for his abilities after tonight. His guitar playing was top notch. He was really wailing tonight. I liked the fact that he threw in a piece of "All Along the Watchtower". Good stuff, IMO. Anybody else have any thoughts on tonight's performance?

Wait until the late night comedians unload the jokes about the use of the sheet.

His technical ability on the ax is impressive though.

I thought it was rather cheesy doing the covers of other artists. Prince clearly has plenty of material of his own that he shouldn't have to resort to Proud Mary.

He is a pretty amazing musician, but he wouldn't have been my first choice. I can't not like the guitar solo on Purple Rain, though.

I missed the halftime show. Here's hoping it somehow makes its way to Youtube

I can't recall a time when I actually enjoyed the Super Bowl halftime show.

Prince is certainly a master of the guitar, though. He always has been. He just rarely shows it off the way he did last night.

The year that U2 did it may have been my favorite Super Bowl Halftime show. Prince was not to bad, either.

I'm not a huge Prince fan, and the covers sucked, but overall the halftime show was one of the best in recent years.

Prince doesn't have a lot of songs he can sing on broadcast tv. Tipper Gore would flip out. He was unreal though. He tackled so many styles, I guess i didn't realize how talented he is. i understand now why his tours sell out instantly.

I'm not a Prince fan. I honestly didn't know it was Purple Rain playing until he said those words. I can just appreciate a good musician.

I don't like prince. He's good at guitar but so are a lot of people. Also, I question every single one of your guy's sexualtiy based on his Aunt Jamima head wrap.

on PTI last week they said Prince has had a relgious conversion (didn't say what) and that he doesn perform any of his "sex songs" anymore...Wilbon was saying he went to go see one of his concerts one time and was disappointed not to hear some of them...

when Prince is just playing the guitar I enjoy it...he is amazing...but aside from that he annoys the crap out of me...

say what you want, but i have always been a prince fan, and see one of his shows live, and you would be impressed. i said before he is a weirdo, but as a musician and entertainer, he is one of the best.

This coming from a guy who was wanting to get tickets to see Justin Timberlake.

I can't stand to watch the halftime show anymore after the Janet incident. It's worthless. On a side not, did anybody see the Doritos commerical in which the Liberty guy put together?

I'll back Smoothie up on JT. (It's not like I have anything to lose here anyway.) His work with Timbaland on this latest record deserves more credit than it's being given. The guy has talent. Did everyone here miss him on SNL?

As for Prince, I won't say I'm a huge fan of his, but I do love old funk. (The Ohio Players, Kool & The Gang, Curtis Mayfield, George Clinton, Sly & the Family Stone, etc.) His appreciation for it and ability to convey it musically (Musicology anyone?) makes me at least a low-level fan.
