Logging On

It may just be me but is anyone else having some hiccups with logging on? When I log on the first time, it goes right back to the index page and shows me NOT logged in. Then I do it a second time it shows me logged on but then I don't see any checkmarks showing new posts. Why is this ? Is it my new computer that is taunting me? Have I downloaded too many pics of JF in a speedo?

It's the site being redirected to the .info thing and all of that. Mine does that same.

I have been screaming at EL SCORCHO for the last 2 days about it
throwing true hissy fits.
he suggested checking the "leave me logged in" box next time you log in- that worked for me.
it takes a second longer to load, but it comes up correctly w/ new posts marked after that.

That works sometimes, depending on the computer.
On my laptop, it keeps me logged in. On this one, I have to everytime.

Mark them as read after you read them. That works to fix it. It's a pain, but it works.

The forum may be issuing cookies for either domain which means the "View New Posts Since Your Last Visit" link might get a little wonky for now. I'm working on straightening that out.
I warned everyone about this when we first came back online. It will be this way until we get our real domain back. I did the best I could with what I had to work with.

well now it is. I was getting the old
Network Error (dns_server_failure)

if you regularly (or automatically) clear your browser cache, it may take a time or 2 for your browser to "find" the .info site- something about following a link or something.
I don't really know what I'm talking about.

It happened again this morning. You go to flamefans.com and it sends you to flamefans.com/forums. And I'm not the only one having this problem. Everytime I go to the firehouse to click on the link to here, there always a few guests.

Those guests are generally spammers.

It's going to keep happening until FlameFans.com is handed over to us. If you really want to know why things are happening the way they are...
On the old FlameFans.com server (which FlameFans.com is still pointing to), I setup Apache to do a redirect to Flamefans.info. Flamefans.info points to the new server, but Apache is also configured on the new server to forward anyone requesting the root of the site to be sent over to /forums where the board now lives. With two redirects and Flamefans.info technically being overlaid on an account originally setup for FlameFans.com, I knew it could get a little sketchy sometimes.
It's a hack. It's not perfect. There will be small issues until we get FlameFans.com into our possession. I knew this would be the case when I set all of this up, but I thought it was more important to everyone to have the board up in some form than not at all.

how insane is it that they still haven't handed it over to you?

I think it's insane, but they obviously don't have a problem with it. This is the typical response we received when trying to get support from them, which is why we left/are leaving. I'm going to try to figure out how to escalate things if I don't hear from them soon.
