FlameFans.com still exists and currently redirects to FlameFans.info. The /forums was a move of the board during the recent downtime so that we can do something else with the front of the site in the future.
When control of FlameFans.com is handed over to us from our old webhost, we'll be operating off of that domain. Hopefully that happens soon.

That was a good idea.
However, it was not a simple one. The domain name is written into the configuration of the board in several places, and is also tied to the hosting account the board lives on. Fortunately, I was able to find a mod for the configuration, change some things in the database, buy a domain, and hack around with .htaccess files until I was blue in the face...but it works!
So, you'll see some funky stuff happen with your browser when you visit FlameFans.com, but it should be working. When our old host finally releases the FlameFans.com domain to our control, there will be a brief period of downtime for the site, but nothing like what we've experienced during the move. Hopefully that will be the last downtime we see for a long time.
