:// Proposed translators to be swapped
| Monday, December 18, 2006

Liberty University is swapping its CP (construction permit) for a 10-watt translator on 102.5 (W273BB) in Richmond for two Positive Alternative Radio (PAR) proposed translators; 13 watts on 101.5 (W268BD) in Harrisonburg and 10 watts on 96.7 (W244BP) in Charlottesville.

PAR will use the Richmond signal to rebroadcast programming from its CCM "Virginia's Positive Hits" WJYJ/90.5 Fredericksburg and Liberty will use its two new proposed signals to rebroadcast its CCM "Victory FM" WRVL/88.3 Lynchburg.

No kidding.... if they broadcasted the Light I'd be more excited about the deal. The age group with the money controls the radio waves... since we're not selling advertising we have to cater to the donor base...

Does anyone know how connected the two stations are? Is there an opportunity for LU to use them both for younger music one day?

Translation: The expansion is for the geezer station and not the station that plays music that FlameFans can stomach.

Sly's translation further explained:

WRVL's live stream - Old folks' music (gospel mostly) and currently airs men's basketball and football games.

WMMC's live stream - Actual CCM and currently airs all Lady Flames basketball games, the majority of home baseball and softball contests, and a selection of Liberty Men's & Women's Soccer and club hockey matches. WMMC also airs weekly sports talkshows and high school athletics.
