FlameFans.com 2006 Growth

Just wanted to make a note of this site's growth this year. It's been a pretty incredible start considering where we came from. I have a feeling this is just the beginning, though.
This graph represents traffic on the site over the last year:
The downtime we had (thanks to our webhost) in November is pretty obvious, huh?
That's all, folks.

My 401k should show that kind of steady growth. Its been a very good first year.

when are we going public?
and will shares be distributed based on post-frequency?
I figure I can retire by 50 at this rate, then make ALL the games.
actually, in all seriousness- THAT kinda traffic is impressive- I'd think that would make us an attractive target for someone looking to advertise to a specific demographic. Can ad space be utilized in an unobtrusive way that will help the site generate some revenue, yet not ruin the overall continuity of the product?
(if that makes sense to anyone besides the voices in my head

)

Actually, you just gave me an idea.
Sly, expect an email.

thank you, thank you.
ummm...
what'd I do? was it good?
probably trying to figure out how to re-set someone's posts to 0 so you don't have to pay out annual dividends in our new stock-sharing system

I caught you one day (don't have the screen shot to prove it though) and it's like a freaking buzzer went off in your head and you've been on a post-rampage lately.

if ya can't run w/ the big dog, stay on the porch.
(my wife is completely convinced that I am certifiably the world's biggest loser)

BTW- I think we oughta make a pact right now that by the time this site registers 50k posts that we establish a NEW BANNER UP TOP with a REAL LOGO.
at least change the font.
someone put together a poll, give us 4 examples, and let it ride.
its been a year now and no one has stepped up to provide SLY w/ a better concept. I'm not the computer graphics guru around here- that would be the fat kid.
so SO SOMETHING man.
(the rate we're going here- ya got about a month.)

I've had a lot going on. That's my excuse.
You have kids.
And I haven't been able to figure out a good design yet.

I don't make pretty things to look at. I just give them a home. So anyone that can come up with something better up top, I'm all for it. The top "banner" section is comprised of three images. The left and right images are 351x88 and the middle image is 294x88. Get crackin'. (This means you SJ. You're on break right now.

)
Also, if anyone is good with CSS and PHP and wants to design a custom phpBB theme for us, that'd be pretty slick. You've really got to know your stuff though, because I'm going to come down on you hard if your php fills up my error logs. Interested parties, please PM me.

I think it's a testament to the progress of LU that this place is still accessible from campus. There was a time in the not-too-distant past where that wouldn't be the case.
This place is still legal on campus, right?

Fortunately, the members of this site have seen fit to keep the kind of content off the board that would draw the ire of those who make decisions about filtering web content. This is a positive site about support athletics at Liberty University, and nothing more. We veer from place to place in the course of normal conversation, but this is in no way an anti-Liberty site. If it ever became that, I would expect it to be blocked like those in the past. FlameFans.com exists to support the University, not tear it down. That's the key to avoiding being filtered.
Well, that and knowing the guy who controls the web filter. I hear he's a nice dude.

I say the header should have a big pic of the Medic. It can be lifesize and still fit on most computer screens

We could have a Mt Rushmore type picture with Medic, SJ, Sly we need a 4th....Dickens maybe?

We could have Dickens, Haize, and a couple of others and call it Mount Hatemore.

as long as we're talking about it, I like the 2 flame things on the sides, it's just that middle thing has to go. somebody make something like "flamefans.com" using the liberty sports font.

I would assume "we" cannot use the official logo due to trademark issues.

not the logo, the font that liberty flames is written in. I doubt that is trademarked, and if it is you could easily make something that looks similar.

It's a custom font. You can't download it.

but it seems relatively easy to make. Just take your normal block letters and add the points to them. Really the only letter you'd have to make from scratch is the "N" and I guess if you wanted to use .com you'd have to make that from scratch as well.

sounds like a plan. You're elected to do it, LUconn.

This site is completely different then those other sites....people took things too far and tried to pretend they were being mature about things. Its one thing being critical of the administration, its another thing to just completely bash on everything and everybody all the time, and that is what those sites always turned into....which is why it wouldn't surprise me if they really did ban facebook, i doubt that they will, but you never know....
