Did anyone attend Student Life's annual Christmas Coffeehouse?
It was complete garbage. I wasted about three hours of my life and two bucks I could have used for better things.

I heard it was completely stupid and that people were literally falling asleep.
The two main videos (Dorm Linebacker 3 and the Tetris thing) were complete ripoffs of things that have been done at other schools.

The sound was garbage... couldn't make out the words.
Every act that played involved a band member or two from Exodus, proving that in order to get in, it's all about who you know.
People made a video that I was in (as Sparky) about a dorm killing school spirit, but Sparky bringing it back to life. It was a great video, but My Epic made the tetris video, so they get in (ofcourse, they're known for playing Coffeehouse, so ofcourse they got in). Many other acts I know were turned down and people in Exodus and other campus praise bands were automatically in it.
I will not stand up and sing along now when Exodus plays in convo.

yeah, it really is about who you know...more so this year then any other year i think....and Chesterton...holy crap that kid can't sing...my fiance got interviewed for the yearbook last year by this kid who works with student life and they got in some huge debate about Chesterton, I guess student life loves them...everybody around me thought the kid was trying to be funny...but the thing is that is how he normally sings...terrible

I read all of that in that group on Facebook. It's all who was friends with the guy in charge of it.
While Dorm Linebacker is a ripoff, it's funnier than the original. I haven't seen Dorm Linebacker 3 though.

I will attest to the sound issues...there were people there screaming "turn it up!" or "We can't hear them!" or something to that effect. I enjoyed Dorm Linebacker. I would have liked to see the school spirit video (since one of the bandos is an SLD on that hall). Im thinking of trying out for Coffehouse next year (this year was the firt time I attended COffeehouse in 5 years). Id give this about a 4 out of 10 (mostly for the sound issues)

We've thought about refilming Parking Spaces with better cameras and sound and submitting it but after hearing this stuff, I don't know if it's worth the time.

its in the Vines Center guys, what do you expect...it is hell on earth as far as sound goes
the part where people couldn't hear the 2 girls singing was a terrible set up though...they had 2 choir mics set up while they walked around....if they are going to do something like that put some wireless mics on them, i know LU has tons of them
SJ...go ahead and submit it, its worth a try.....

That's a shame. I think that in three or four years of Coffeehouses (all in Schilling), at two times a year, there were only maybe 1 or 2 terrible ones.
I do recall a battle of the bands that was totally biased toward friends of the students putting on the event. At the time, there was only one band that had any real talent at LU.

we had a few good coffeehouses when i went there...the last one (coincidentally i worked at student life at this time and even though i didn't work on coffeehouse at all, i did give ideas and they were all like, "thats not funny" or "thats offensive" or "please put your shirt and pants back on") the last one was horrible....i booed and screamed "you suck" i can't remember how many times.....much to the chagrine of those around me who were like "thats my friend"

i pretty much hate student life....they all have their friends and they think that they know the definition of cool....all these people in this group is what my friends and I call the "student life groupies" ....anna c...... is the worst one of them all...I would say last name but that is just mean, or something

I'm surprised BOSC wasn't in it this year, they're good friends with Miss...oh wait, we're not saying her last name...and I figured they would for sure be in. But yeah, this one basically sucked...at least they should've attempted volume adjustments for the two girls, I could barely hear them and I was close to the front.

well, hlaf the guys from bosc graduated....and at least Bosc is good...and for the record I know the guys from Bosc and we have talked about miss you know who, and they can't stand her...I have yet to meet anybody that likes her....and evidently she is a funny drunk...just the word on the street...

I agree, medic. Let's not get personal considering the apparent knowledge of this individual by many on the board.
