I wonder how much control this will give him. It's way more than Dorsey owns, but obviously nowhere near a controlling share. I would have to believe some things will change.

Like everything else he does, he's just getting started.

A few days ago he put out a poll on Twitter about Twitter. Said it was an important question and would guide him doing something. Guess this is what he meant

It was either going to be this or start his own platform, but the track record on that has been less than stellar. It will be interesting to see how much he needs to buy before a coalition of his shares and other pro free speech investors can gain control. First thing they would need to do is get rid of this new CEO. He's a clown show. Way worse than Jack.

Twitter is a big part of the public square these days. This initial move by Musk is a soft warning. We'll see if they clean their act up. Otherwise, libertarian pressure is inevitable.

Wow, Musk pulled the curtain back. Vanguard and Blackrock trying to rescue Twitter status quo.

I’m pro Elon on this one. I’m not sure how Twitter can stay stable without a lot of help if they reject the offer

Reports are Elon Musk has finalized the purchase and let the blue bird out of the cage. Censor fanatics are having a bad day.

Musk will absolutely censor Twitter as a private owner. Unless he wants it to become the next 4Chan, in which case I'd say he overpaid.

So, how exactly does this work? Musk censoring Twitter as a private owner? Very odd conclusion.

You can’t let people just post anything. It would just be overrun with porn and gore. Like 4chan.

Exactly. It is an odd conclusion but yet that has been the ongoing criticism of Twitter and other social media platforms.

I get the sense that we're not really conscious of the fact that ideology has replaced religion. And people are becoming more and more fanatical about ideology by the day.

Oh, he has every right to self-censor his platform, just as Twitter has had the right to always do.

It's just funny watching people trip over themselves saying that he's going to try to make it some kind of utopia for absolute "freedom of speech" when it's very clear that it won't.

The unmoderated internet already exists in some places but isn't a place most of us ever want to go.

I'm just pointing out that he won't just let people post anything, just like Twitter now. He might have different rules, but the end result is going to be a moderated community with terms of service and consequences for those that don't follow the terms.

So, in other words, Alex Berenson will be allowed to satirize over-the-top covid panic. And maybe even put some facts out there that are in opposition to the establishment. Free speech. Right?

Elon has the ultimate F U money. He basically took ‘THEIR’ ball and went home.
Very happy for this development I think it’s obvious he’s gonna put some guard rails in place (can’t see it becoming porn hub Twitter or outright calls for violence) but I also think he’s going to make it resemble the Public Square then it currently is. Wanna say the world is flat? Great. Everyone should be vaxxed? Knock yourself out. CRT? For it? Go for it. Against it? Make your case. The more speech the better.
Musk is no Conservative White Knightbut at least he appears willing to let people have their say.

It will be interesting to see where he wants to set the standards. Obviously he’s not gonna let obscene violence or porn be posted, but what about violent threats? Violent rhetoric? Hate speech (and against who)? Any restrictions on Fake News©?

And Paypal at 92. Also formerly owned by Musk. Dude is not historically a conservative. He just doesn't like censorship. Amazing how that has come to be thought of as right wing

Define “fake news”? ……and that’s where the trouble starts. Hate speech? Maybe avoid racial slurs but that’s also hard to define. Violent rhetoric? A bit easier but still not easy.

This why I said Musk is no Conservative white knight. Of course most of his business has been in Blue States so that also makes sense
