What a tragedy. So many people are losing their homes. It is really sad.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/09/09/us/f ... alden.html

The devastation in Washington State was repeated up and down the parched West Coast on Wednesday as a wildfire season of unrivaled destruction continued to spread, destroying not only much of Malden but several other communities in the Northwest, while belching enough smoke to blot out the sun in San Francisco. At least seven people were killed in the recent blazes.

In California, fires have now charred some 2.5 million acres — a modern record and nearly 20 times what had burned at this time last year. In Washington, a wildfire pushed into suburban communities near Tacoma. And in Oregon, officials said hundreds and perhaps more than a thousand homes had already been destroyed.
I can't stop looking at these pictures. Just unreal.

That was just one of the hundreds of fires. Senseless, yes. But most are occurring due to lightning strikes. The big one last year in California was started by an electrical issue that may still yet bankrupt one of the major utility companies in the state.

Wish we would stop all this in-fighting and put our attention here. Are other states sending fire equipment to the West Coast to help?

Yes. I have a fiend who owns a ranch in NM. They have Wild Fire FireFighters that just got done with one fire who stayed with them and are now heading up to fight this one. The coordination of these fire teams is pretty impressive. We are pretty good at this for better or worse. We could be better but we must worry about endangered spiders and stuff

The USA is basically a cess pool for extreme weather.
