IE 7.0

I know all you computer freaks are gonna blast me for using a MS product- but I do, so get over it.
Overnight my PC updated w/ the new IE 7.0 and its quite freaky.
Kinda cool- I think. But I haven't really figured it out yet. Some new options that I doubt I'll use, but the font looks cleaner- not sure what it is- poss Palatino.
anyway- this site now has a ton of red borders that I hadnt' noticed before- unless SLY or someone did that. I think the current frame you're working in now (or wherever your mouse cursor rests) highlights in white while the background gets a complimentary color.
I really have no idea here- anyone else noticing this?
AND NO, I'M NO LONGER ON PERCOCET

acutally, I've been reading at the computer geek websites that this new IE7 is better than firefox2. Of course apparently there's something called opera that trumps them both that only the geekiest know about.

Hey now I use FireFox and it has changed my life - its a new birth, a breath of fresh air after the AOL take over of Netscape. Its like when everything turns to color in the Wizard of Oz. (plus the logo is so cool) So Medic just let me know when you want to take the training wheels off and ride a real bike!

(I also have IE and did download 7 - you're right it does have a better resolution and some interesting features.)

worked at a station that was running that POS program- it kept locking up the PC and nothing would load correctly.
I figured out where IE was hidden in the program memory (because I'm a closet Einstein) and ran that instead- no problems.
take that- You.

I switched because Netscape 7.2 - 8.* kept locking up my machine. I have yet to have Firefox lock up. I just hate Bill Gates - he's the antichrist you know and if I can avoid using a Microsoft product (without buying one of those machines that I shall not name because I think Jobs is the Beast) then I do it. Sorry it caused you grief.

According to this report, Firefox 2.0 is better at fighting phishing than IE7.

Anyone who uses a computer should care. Thanks to IE6's failure to comply with W3C standards, screwed up ActiveX integration and failure to have any kind of mal-ware countermeasures the world of the web has been a much worse place. IE7 adds things that Microsoft should have had in IE 3 years ago. Firefox 2 is superior in most every way. Any review that says otherwise has Microsoft money in their pocket. (That's cash, not the application.)
IE7 is IE6 with tabbed browsing and a really bad user interface. And yet, it's still an improvement.

I've used Firefox at home for about 5 years and have NEVER had a problem. Perhaps there was some operator error by Eagle Fan. You don't have to be a techie to see the differene instantly upon download (which is free by the way).

i dont know. These guys are uber geeks (basing that on the fact that it's a computer hardware forum) and they seem split on it. They definatly are not in Microsoft's pocket.

Someone needs to help out the less inclined. What exactly is the difference between IE 6 and 7? Thanks.

AnandTech is a great site, but the user forums? Eh. Just a bunch of schmucks like us.
I'm harshing on IE7, but it's because it took Microsoft five years to make some very minor improvements that have been available in other browsers for nearly the entire time we were waiting on an IE update. Not to mention the fact that MS tried to completely destroy the standards for the world wide web with IE5.5 and 6. It was a really crass and wrong thing to do, and had some competition not come a long, they probably would have been able to pull it off. If you have Windows there's no reason not to install the IE7 update. It is my personal opinion that it is still not the best browser for your OS, however.
just a little off topic

We recently found out that Christian World Outreach can receive $ if we serch the internet w/
GoodSearch.com Iassume I log on to my regular provider, then go to that site.... I really should take more computer classes; there's a place north of Hartford where I took one b/c it was a raffle prize ata banquet. This keybrd. is still driving us nuts (see, you slobs from the other thread-there doesn't have to be a connection btwn. that word and certain others)- it takes at least 3x as long to type-esp. for the anal retentive

My husband looked at computers Sun. and shocked me by saying he actually wants a laptop (again).
