I was wondering if anyone works in inside sales? I currently work as a specialist for a third party debt collector. I do pretty well but there is a job opportunity in town that starts at 32k base with commission. Their top sales rep made about 125k last year, word on the street, and the lowest made 55k. It’s selling small business loans 5-500k. I’m just wondering if anyone has advice or works in that area. Thanks!

I do, but mine is more of a sales support position. Is this position supporting an outside sales rep or cold calling and creating your own sales.

It is by phone and the posting said that it’s warm leads company provided. I’m not sure if that helps your question. I’m assuming more creating your own sales but not sure because I have no experience in a sales environment. I do know the company is the one that is providing the funding.
I do some inside sales associated with my position. My situation is primarily about extracting additional revenue from existing clients. That can be a two-edged sword. On one side, you are already in with a client who values your product. On the other end, you are trying to squeeze more out of their budget from which you are already extracting a healthy slice. Schmoozing is in some folks' blood and can be very lucrative. I am not one of those folks.

So what do you guys think? I put in for it but I’m hesitant to take it if I get it because my current job is the first job I’ve had that I enjoy. I’m on track this year for about 50k so if what the people are saying then it should be a decent pay bump.

Money is not worth giving up enjoyment in sales. I’m seeing some red flags here. But I’d need to know more

inside sales is generally easier than outside sales in that you are generally working with a client base that you already do business with.
Debt collection is a meat grinder. I'd much rather move into a position where i'm trying to get people to spend money on a product and not trying to aggresively get people to hand over every red cent they own because they are deadbeats.
thats just me though. we had a guy try sales with us who didn't work out . he moved to a debt collection company and is like a dynamo.

So it's all telework? Don't know what company it is but those telework jobs are always red flags for me. Those are the types of scam jobs you see on Craigslist all the time. I've heard enough horror stories about those types of companies that I steer clear of them unless I know the company is legit or know someone personally that can attest to what it's like working with the company.
