Sly Fox wrote:Vegas has a ridiculous amount of things to do. But burgers may be the most popular option for those of us who love to eat.

East Coasters all seem to be down with scoring In 'N Out Burger and the Cosmo is within two blocks of two locations. The new one in the Linq Promenade just a couple blocks north and the old familiar one at the corner Dean Martin Drive & Flamingo drive next to the I-15 freeway. Both are easy walking distance even in August heat.

Of course Gordon Ramsay Burger is just across the street in Planet Hollywood. I know you guys have Shake Shacks up and down the East Coast these days, but they have a location on the Strip just as you reach New York, New York. You will have to walk by Bobby's Burger Palace (Bobby Flay, that is) to reach it.

I admit that I don't get to Chicago near enough so the Giordanos between the Flamingo & Bally's is a personal favorite when I am working there.

As far as business is concerned, I am flying to NYC, LA, Seattle, Albuquerque & Jakarta this summer. I'm trying to swing a day or two in Bali out of the Indonesian run.
I will put my endorsement on Gordon Ramsey’s Burgr. We watched the Broncos-Seahawks Super Bowl there

But you HAVE to hit Hash House A Go Go. You can’t not go

SLY any thoughts on Batista Hole In The Wall? Located behind The Cromwell across from Bally’s? We absolutely love it

What’s this hole in the wall place?
Click on the link and check out the menu You will not leave disappointed or hungry

The Chicken and Waffles are pretty well known
Their eggs Benedict are supposed to be incredible but I’ve never had them cause I don’t like eggs Benedict
Their omelette are out of this world. Pro Tip - Get a side of sausage gravy with them
The pork tenderloin sandwich is about as big as my head
The pancakes have been mistaken for UFO’s when tossed in the air

Batista’s is an Old School Italian place. Think of the restaurant Joe Pesci ran in Casino. I don’t recommend as much as I used to because a couple of people didn’t like it. I think they were expecting Olive Garden with a Vegas twist, which it isn’t. The menu’s are written on the wall and there are pictures of the owner and about every celebrity ever to have come thru Vegas.
JK37 wrote:Also, on a first-time trip, how can I not hit the three-story Waffle House or the Taco Bell?!
Because at the end of the day they are still just a Waffle House and a Taco Bell. Places you can eat anywhere

They should each get a different item and nibble from the other. Prices aren’t outrageous so have at it

This year is a change for us as everything will be local.
I should be good to travel by July but then I have radiation every day for six weeks then my chemo so we will do (if we can work around my treatments) a weekend in Gettysburg and a weekend in the Poconos all within two hours for us but a change of scenery.

CCWMichael - You are blessed to have so much to see and do so close. Still praying for you through your treatments.

Haize - I have not been to Batistas. But I have VERY high standards for Italiano. I usuually avoid places in Vegas that require large amounts of time. But I would be down with slipping in to sample their cannoli. My son and I consider ourselves connoisseurs.

My wife and I were given the name by a Vegas local. When we were there the first time several Casino limo’s were pulling in and out. Which was impressive given it’s less than panoramic location. We got great feedback then one or two mixed. Last time I went it was still very good and I even sat at a booth across from Julian Lennon

Yeah, we're big Disney folks so we kept going even when our kids were little. LOL. My wife and I even spent our honeymoon at Disneyland. We bought into the Disney Vacation Club back in 2011 so the hotels are already paid for and we just have to budget the cost of tickets. We're at a good place now where all the kids are tall enough for all attractions.

If you ever have a chance the cruises are phenomenal. Much more character time and the meals on the Fantasy were out of this world. My recommendation, do a seven day cruise.

We're spending a week on Lake Norman for the second year in a row, whole family thing. As an added bonus, we'll be there the same week that Liverpool is playing Dortmund in Charlotte, so I'm taking my wife and kids to that as well. I'm a big fan of both teams, so this is a dream game for me (though I don't expect all their stars to be there). My wife and I are planning on a Germany trip later this year to see a Dortmund game (Liverpool would be too expensive).

Earlier this year we went camping on Jekyll Island, and then hit up Hilton Head and Atlanta for a few days.

I really wanted to camp Cumberland Island, but since it's a little more primitive and is only accessible by ferry, I wanted my family to get a little better at camping before we try it. The Jekyll campground was okay, but is more for campers & rv's. REALLY close to Driftwood Beach, though.

i don't camp but driftwood beach was probably one of the coolest things i've ever seen.

If any of you have Mexico City in your future travel plans, let me know. We are hitting every tourist possibility we can manage right now. Traffic here is not only awful but a thrill ride.

Next week we will be in both Albuquerque and Las Cruces as part of a business trip. In ballcoach15 speak, I consider it a recon mission for the fall.

These beach trips to the Carolinas sound awesome. But for those of us in flyover country, it seems like a different planet. Destin is about the far end of most beach trips for us these days.
