When FlameFans Goes Down

We obviously were down the past couple of days due to circumstances beyond our control. Our webhost had an overall system crash that knocked hundreds of websites offline. There's not much we can do about this for the time being. But should this ever happen again, please go to our old board called the Firehouse:

http://libertysports.proboards29.com/

Many of the oldtimers on this board remember the place and headed there the last couple of days.

Meanwhile, spread the word to your friends who might've been frustrated by our downtime that we are back up & operating.

Hopefully we'll have a real solution for this problem not too long from now.

In the meantime, don't be surprised to see the board go away again.

wondering if you guys transfer the board to another host, will we lose what we have at this point?

hate to see all this outstanding journalism lost to the ages- never again available for eons of future offspring to peruse and learn from.

In addition to Medics question, can any of these crashes make us have to start over from scratch? I've seen messageboards go away for a few days only to come back with no more archives.

I feel a new poll: How many times a day did you re-check the site to see if it was still down?
SJ - did you actually have to pay attention in class?
AG, Medic and Sly Fox - did your fingers enjoy the break from all the typing?
I must admit - it is definately part of my daily duties to check the page and read what is going on. Part of my day was defiantely missing.

Actually, I posted in several threads in the old Firehouse--just in case this site went kaput.

The only class I had to sit through without FlameFans was Intro to Sport and we were talking about something I liked. That and I got into a comment war with someone on Facebook so I can say I halfway paid attention. I participated in the discussion, though.

No to all of the above, if I can possibly help it. The tricky part with this site is that no matter how current the backup, unless we take the site down, it will always be changing. So, whenever the move does happen I imagine there will be a point where we lose 12-24 hours of data, unless we just take it down in preparation for the move.

In about 2 more minutes we'll have a backup current as of this post that can be restored elsewhere.

It was nightmarish.

I had a dream that I was posting at FF and then when I woke up and it never came, I realized what hell would be like.

Well after a second outage, we appear back up just in time for the game. The good news is that we have been able to back up our entire system and we are exploring all of our hosting options. Thanks for your patience.

I think I had something like 70 posts just last night. We were all making up for it being down earlier this week.
