Almost $80,000/year for a first year regional first officer.....If you told someone that 5 years ago they'd say you were crazy. The 1500 hour rule and the pilot shortage it has created has changed things!

Here's some Virginia Aviation History for the flyers at LU.

35 years ago, July 2, 1982, Piedmont Airlines Flight 328 (Norfolk, VA to Newark, NJ) flew into the record books. It was the first jet commercial flight handled by an all-female crew in the history of the airline industry. For the first time, from the cockpit to the cabin, all females were in charge of a jet commercial flight. The 737-200 crew included Captain Cheryl Peters (pictured) who was also Piedmont's first female pilot, hired in 1974. Other members of the flight from Norfolk to Newark were; First Officer Becky Rose; and flight attendants Paula Lanier, Dolly Wenat, and Cindy Perry.

That is a massive jump in compensation! I have a bunch of pilot friends who were basically on food stamps for years in similar roles for regionals trying to survive until a major carrier opening arrived.
