I hope you are all happy with yourselves now. I have had to call my therapist b/c of the flashbacks I am getting thinking about the days of student advising!! I don't know, that 20 minute lecture they gave us on how to "advise" students was SOOOO beneficial!!! ASSist was supposed to help, but I am not sure how much it did. Hopefully, it has gotten better. From the "other side" of the desk, I always enjoyed it when I would have a sign up sheet for students to sit down and discuss their schedules but yet very few names were on it. Everyone wanted to just SHOW UP and discuss their schedules. (Of course, the academic professional across the hall from me was subject to cruel and vicious practical jokes by "someone". They HATED to have that 4 ppm slot on friday's filled, yet seemed it always was!!

)
AG and SCORCH you both have made great points. I always liked trying to correct someone elses mistake from "COGS" you can fill in the blanks. It didn't seem like they were up to speed on what needed to be done. NoT that it is all that difficult since classes are listed on a piece of paper. Having a specific department to advise students would be a GREAT idea, but unfortunately at LU that means it would be staffed with recent college grads making about $7/hour.
Ohhhhh so many stories.........
