alright seriously. What is the deal? I have gotten rid of those announcements about Lamont Winters over the last few months in the MBB section probably 5 or 6 times. Is HMO playing some sort of long drawn out joke on us? How can that possibly keep coming back?

We had to do some technical maintenance over the weekend and I have a feeling some of that may have caused these problems.

What exactly is going on? If I have a better idea of the details I can work on it in the wee hours.

Some long deleted announcements reappeared in the mens hoops forum. I dismissed them once again.

Got it. I'll do some database cleanup tonight. That may help.

also while you're working on that could you call up whoever hosts this site and tell them not to suck anymore? I can't take these 1-2 hour crashes during the day anymore. I can't help but wonder how many other people are trying to come here every 5 minutes like I do.

ditto. see my aggrevated post on the Firehouse for proof.
(right below yours from the 17th, LUConn - which was right below mine from the week or so before that

You can be assured we'll be switching providers at the end of the year when our contract is up unless they get some tech support online once again.

TDDance IMed me earlier asking it was down. When I said yes he said, and I quote, "What else am I supposed to do in class now?"

Here's the deal with the webhost of this site (Vizaweb):
I also host my personal website with them, and they do fairly frequently have outages due to high usage or other small problems. They only have a staff of 2 or 3 people at the most, so it takes them a while to get things back online. And tech support can sometimes be pretty unresponsive. I actually have a monitoring service that keeps check on the uptime of my own site, and it could definitely be better.
Now, having said all that, to get more reliable hosting, we'll have to pay a lot more than what we're paying here. All of the webhosts that offer the services we're getting at the price we're paying experience the same kind of issues we're having here. I know because I've used a lot of them. You definitely can't get something for nothing (or next to nothing) when it comes to hosting.
At this point I'm sure there are a few of us who wouldn't mind helping move the site to a new home. Right? RIGHT?!?

I've had Hosting Cabin for two years and they are fabulous. I made the mistake of using another provider for a site I'm designing for a company and the differences in reliability and customer support are striking. And Hosting Cabin is cheaper.
