I recently logged into my liberty account and the spam is out of control. No wonder I never log into it.

Has nothing to do with this topic but the actual topic makes me sad.

My liberty account gets little spam, except for the spam I signed up for (ads for companies, etc.). I have a filter which moves most of those to special folders which I clean out from time to time. I could unsubscribe (and I do sometimes) but you never know when you will want that Bed, Bath & Beyond coupon.

I am not expert on this issue but it just seems like the American Church (a generalization, therefore, not totally accurate) has just failed miserably in addressing this issue and helping their families to cope effectively. Is porn that pervasive and accepted in society that church leaders have just raised a white flag?

As for the left v. the right, Josh Duggar and the Duggar clan actively put themselves on a pedestal as examples of morality while advocating against marriage equality and anti-discrimination laws for the LGBTQP community. No one of the left really does that, at least as far as sex is concerned.

As for Ashley Madison, while hacking is a crime and laws should be obeyed, the adulterers are not victims. Once you're on the internet, you have no privacy and I DO NOT feel sorry for them. They made their choices, time to live with the consequences.

I would say it's more than just 'The American Church". I'd say 'The World Wide Church"

Porn habits are signs of much deeper and varying issues. I know next to nothing about the Duggars but based on what I do know, there were issues of Love Intimacy Acceptance and Sex. I do not condone what happen but I do love him as Christ loves us in all of our sins

Q can stand for either queer or questioning.

P is for pansexual. My pan friends were feeling left out of the acronym, so I threw them a little shout out...

Considering that the millennial (my) generation had it just a few keystrokes away at our fingertips, that we knew how to get around parental locks, controls, etc...yeah, it became that pervasive and thus accepted. During my time at LU, if you weren't "struggling," with porn and masturbation, you were either considered a liar or extremely sheltered with no clue about the world around you.

I'd venture to say that a young kid who doesn't struggle with that stuff has has more of a clue about the world around them than anyone on the other side of that fence.

Maybe, but that was the perception when I was at LU. It went as far as nearly every male involved in student leadership had to have XXX Church software installed on their computer. Not that I had any problems with that being on my computer as I agree leaders should be held accountable, but that was the mindset 10 years ago.

we live in a day and age where its right at your fingertips. It would be like if each home back in the 80's and 90's had a room full of porn with a really jenky lock on it (most filtering systems are very poor in quality)

This is true. We're just now seeing the consequences on a generation where it was easily accessible and thus easy to get addicted.

Why is this news?

I guess he is from a semi-popular family? Maybe because people are trying to connect a link of odd/moral/Christian to child pornography and molestation?

It disgusts me that we as a society celebrate these falls. It’s tragedy porn.

Of course that is why this is news but as Christians we should use this as why it is so dangerous to attempt to cover up things like this and why true accountability and consequences early on are very important.

Covering things up rarely leads to true repentance.

In addition, the only thing truly disgusting in this situation are the actions of Josh Duggar and those who enabled him. Sure, celebrating his fall isn't a good look but disgusting? Not even close.

I haven’t seen much celebrating over his fall. What I have seen is outrage over how his family, faith community, and their theology have enabled him to reoffend in this way. I think that’s earned. For what it’s worth, most of the outrage I have seen is coming from Christians who want the Church to do better, not “the world” wanting to celebrate the fall of a Christian.

This is the aspect of the situation that moved you post?

As if the collective will of the haters is what caused this to happen to him.. Not, this is what he is and his exposure is worth celebrating.

INHO, these people, whose identity is totally wrapped up in how many kids they can produce, are really warped. I have only known 3 family's like this and all of them have major sexual/relationship problems.
I have never watched one of the Duggar TV shows, because it disgusting to me. No parents can provide the emotional support, and many times the financial support, required for all of these children. Especially since mamma is popping one out every 10-11 months.
Being one of 6 boys, I believe I have a decent perspective on this :BS , even though our numbers are minuscule, compared to this baby factory.
Put this guy under the jail, he is a child molester. Even prisoners hate them and realize they are low-life's.

You inferred incorrectly.

What do you think moved USA Today to post it? Do they post every indictment of child molesters?

Obviously the guy is scum. I thought that was clear. The people who post this aren’t motivated by exposure. It’s column inches and clicks. Its advertising dollars. It’s juicy. That’s scummy, too.

It’s a commentary on our society’s infatuation with the bad in humanity. And we the audience eat it up.

It’s also a culture that enjoys exposing blatant hypocrisy. When your family has made millions claiming one thing while you’re doing something else, it’s going to make news when you’re caught.
