Mike Huckabee kicking off book tour/presidential campaign with appearance on Jim Bakker show. Maybe he'll buy some of the freeze-dried beans and eggs with the 10-year shelf life from ol' Jim for the end-of-the-world pitch that Bakker is hawking these days.

I understand Huckabee's connection with evangelical voters... but through Jim Bakker? Seriously. Why give Bakker credibility and undermine your own? Don't get that at all.

There is a good chance it will happen... but it could be any number of other candidates as well.

I haven't been here in a few weeks, but thought for sure this thread would have contained some excitement from PH regarding the moves being made by Romney over the last week or so...

My only concern would be how aggressive he is in his campaign. If he runs his campaign like last time, he's toast. If he is more personable he wins. He needs to embrace the fact he was successful, and it's not a bad thing. He needs to aggressively have his story told. He needs to hammer the points he made last time that have proven him right. Embrace RomneyCare and point out that it was only possible because of a Teddy Kennedy slush fund. The guy was right, and proved right. Why would you not hire the candidate who was right as opposed to an unknown?
I still think he's the most qualified candidate we've had in a long long time. And most importantly, he gets stuff done. It may not be exactly what the hard right wing of the party wants, but it's a lot better than they have now. In listening to him you hear a greater acceptance of the Libertarian wing than last time

So yes. I still have a man crush on him, and I still think he's by far the best option

He is less qualified because he lost in the 2012 general election. If he had only lost in primaries in 2008 and then skipped 2012, it would have far less damage (ex. Hillary Clinton). Running for president three times consecutively after failing the first two times will be insurmountable. People on both sides will attack him as the new William Jennings Bryan.

At this point, Romney's campaign experience is a negative. Sure there are some sound bites that he can point to and claim "I was right about X in 2012." But because he was the party's nominee in 2012, there is also tons of audio and video for strategists to pick apart and use to destroy him. Did he change anything substantial in tactics or strategy between 2008 and 2012? Nope. He spent 8 years using the same tactics and strategy in order to win one nomination.

The money "strength" is still up in the air. If Jeb Bush and Romney run in the primaries (as of right now, I believe both will), there will be a deep struggle over the same core constituency and donors in the primaries.

No more establishment candidates -hasn't worked the past two elections. Need someone in there with a spine. The last election should have been a lay-up for the GOP. I think I saw Lindsay Graham throwing his name in the hat yesterday and it just completely amazed me.

I remember a mr glen beck weeping and having his team gather around his bed to pray about the oppression before he "preached" at convo. For him to claim that huckabee (a former baptist preacher) only invokes God's name for political reasons... Uh huh.
