Franken was funny on SNL (and Trading Places), but he's now just annoying:

Try watching those old SNLs on Comedy Central. He wasn't that funny back then either.

Franken is way overrated. Sort of like David Cross. That guy is the new Al Franken.

Al Franken is/was a genius. He was one of the writers for SNL when they were FUNNY. His Stuart Smalley is CLASSIC. The movie should be a MUST SEE for anyone entering the pastorate or counseling. He has it nailed!! (Remember, it is easier to put on slippers than to carpet the whole world", I normally wouldn't say this, but can you get to a pound cake?)
As for his radio show......................................................I m sorry i just fell asleep. As I am on the road a ton, I can tune in a ton of things (XM was the greatest idea) and I have TRIED to listen to his show. It wasn't that his guests were bad, he had some good ones, it wasn't that I disagreed with his politics, he was just FLAT OUT BRUTAL. His delivery was fractured and not coherent. He could not put sentences together. Sort of like GWB, he had good material, just cant deliver it. I did like SPringer on Air America though.

Yes, some of his writing was funny but much of that had to do with the peopel delivering the lines. But I have to say Stuart Smalley never did much for me. To each his own.

david cross is one of the funnier stand up comics today....thats unfortunate you don't feel that is so...


al franken was a good writer that was about it....there are good comedy deliverer's and good comedy writers....some can do both (aka conan obrien) some are just good at delivery (spade, farley, norm macdonald) and some are just good at writing (franken, Robert Smigel)
