The city of Houston has issued subpoenas demanding a group of pastors turn over any sermons dealing with homosexuality, gender identity or Annise Parker, the city’s first openly lesbian mayor. And those ministers who fail to comply could be held in contempt of court.

Every pastor in Houston should flood the mayor's office with copies of their sermons, all of them.

And then sue the pants off town hall.

Mayor Porker and her allies passed an "Equal Rights Amendment" bill which, like typical liberals, criminalizes any speech that they disagree with.

If I were a pastor there I would send a copy of the Bible and tell them here's my sermons. If they declare that hate speech then they will be shown for who they really are.

I mean what I'm about to ask in all sincerity:

How is this move being received in the homosexual community? Is this a liberal PR stunt or does the homosexual community at large agree with it?

Actually, not joking at all jbock. "Hate speech," laws have already been enacted in Canada, and in most European countries, denying the Holocaust is a crime. Plus when you also consider the revelations from Edward Snowdenabout what the government has been doing, and 1984 doesn't seem quite so sci-fi anymore.

SJ - truthfully today is the first I've heard about it. My husband is opposed to this as well. I think most of us are happy over the recent spread of marriage equality and the Vatican's shifting attitude towards us that this is likely being swept under the rug.

Here's a take on it from the liberal side of the press (Huffington Post):

I've been travelling all week and just returned home tonight in time for church. Folks were buzzing about this everywhere this evening even though our church is outside city limits. Greater Houston is actually rather conservative. But inside the city limits, it leans heavily to the left.

I hope the church presses the issue, and seeks damages.
