Buses for MMTR - Need FlameFan's Help!!!

This is a completely "out-of-the-Blue" question - BUT, I know that many people on here know people locally and it's never bad to ask. Flame Fans has come through for me before...

One of my companies puts on a 50 Mile Race called the Mountain Masochist, the first weekend in November. It's a logistical challenge because the race starts and finishes at different locations. We have to bus most runners to the start from Lynchburg and then bus everyone back to Lynchburg after they finish.

TRBC and LU normally help us with this, but because changes in their insurance - this is no longer possible, and we are scrambling. We need to find buses that will work with us to transport our runners. It so last minute now - so it's going to be a struggle:(

We need 6 Buses. Leaving at 4:30 from Liberty Conference Center, bringing runners to start, then staggered returns to Liberty Conference Center from Montebello starting around 3PM. (2 Buses return at a time).

I didn't know if there would be several area churches that have big buses I can call and see if they would help out. Doesn't have to all be from the same place - I will mix and match.

I would appreciate any leads I can get. It really is a cool event and we are willing to pay a little too on top of Gas and Drivers.

Have you checked with the local school systems? I have no idea if they do this kind of thing, but won't hurt to ask.

There's also a place on Sunburst Rd, just west of Leesville Rd, that does transportation. Have no idea what company it is. I'll try to remember to look on my way home today.

On McConville Dr, there's a dude who seems to collect tour buses. I think he used to rent them out. Again, I have no clue who he is or how to contact.

Might be worth posting something on Craigslist, it's come through more than once for me.

Heritage Baptist has at least 2 buses, maybe more. Try them - 434-237-6505.

They are about to run 50 miles up a mountain. They can walk there!

Good point, probably be better off renting ambulances.

You could always have them run 25 miles out then 25 miles back.

I know that doesn't help.

Thanks guys for the help. I will make some of those calls tomorrow.

Yeah, an out and back race would be much easier to manage, but probably wouldn't be on for it's 31st year... It's hard to mess with history and changing the course is not an easy decision - you lose all records too.
