Hold your head back and cut off the flow at the top of your nose

Alright it stopped, but not before getting blood everywhere. This looks like a crime scene. I feel sorry for whoever gets this cube after me.
I normally just shove some tissues up there and wait it out. But this was a stubborn one.

Take it from someone who suffered sudden and unexplained nosebleeds for about ten years: if your nose starts bleeding, do NOT put your head back. It doesn't stop the flow and it just makes the blood run down your throat so you'll be smelling and tasting your own blood for hours. Instead, lean forward and pinch your nose shut where the cartilage ends. The blood will clot much more quickly and with much less mess. Trust me. I learned this from the GI Joe cartoon and it really does work. I also learned not to play in refrigerators but that's another story.
Now you know...

And knowing is half the battle!
Anyway, I learned in Boy scouts about not tilting your head back when dealing with a nosebleed.

Isn't that a drug you push, shouldn't you be encouraging so you can pay your way to vegas multiple times each year?

LIB is right. At least maintain "neutral" position- but don't tilt back. Unless you like partially digesting, then vomiting back up, blood.
2 options if you get continual nose bleeds:
Rhino rockets- tampons for your nose.
Cauterization- they burn the the vessles shut. Very nice option- the process is pretty, and smells beautiful.
as you age- this becomes an everyday event.
you can thank me later for the pessamistic outlook.

what? Are you suggesting I grow testicles in my nose to stop the bleeding? I don't see that helping.
As for cauterization, my brother had this done and it didn't help at all.

I started getting sudden nosebleeds in my late teens for no apparent reason. After about ten years, they stopped -- also for no apparent reason. Incidentally, I found that blood doesn't really taste that bad but the lingering aroma on your breath is horrible.

Just make sure you leave the string on if you use the tampon method--that way you can always floss your teeth, too, while you're at it.
