I was just watching TV and saw a commercial for this healthcare company based in VA Beach. They certainly have a creative marketing department...

Edit: I just realized that the above image is our OLD logo. The new one doesn't have the red line. Still...

Admittedly the font, while very similar, is different. Look at the serifs.

It doesn't have to be exact, just ask the Appomattox Raiders.

Suing over this seems a lot more legit than suing another university using "LU". You have to really look at both logos to notice even the slight difference between the two.

Does it matter that we no longer use that logo? I honestly don't know.

I really don't get why a college would sue a high school over the logos or lettering. Now, in Liberty's case with the tribal logo, I get how that was very unique. But with Arizona and Appomattox, what was the point? High schools use college and pro logos all the time. So do youth leagues.

I guess it may have to do with losing the license or trademark/copyright if you don't protect it.

Yes. Use it or lose it. These schools dont really care if a HS across the country is using a similar monogram. They care about losing their trademark and all the revenue that comes with it.

Famously, Georgia and Grambling (if I remember correctly) use the Packers "G" logo but they have had to get the Packers approval and pay the Packers to use it. You can't just go around using someone else's copyrighted or trademark logos for free without their consent, that's illegal...
