The Religious Freedom Restoration Act and the Superbowl

I was just reading a little on this and was wondering what everyone's thoughts were about it: http://washingtonexaminer.com/nfl-could ... le/2544606

I haven't read a lot about it yet, but basically it sounds to me (correct me if I'm wrong) that Arizona passed some legislation that allows religious businesses the right to refuse service due to sexual preference. The legislation is before the governor and needs a signature. They say if she signs the bill, it will likely mean that Arizona will lose the right to host the 2015 Superbowl.

I have read recently how bakeries and other type businesses have refused to service a homosexual couple based on their religious views, and got into some trouble for it in other states. Is this bill meant to protect these type of people? If it isn't signed, and the bill fails, could businesses be fined/breaking the law if they do discriminate against someone due to their sexual preference? What would that do to Christian institutions (churches, schools, universities, etc.)?

It seems pretty interesting how the state is being threatened with losing the Superbowl over it, and I think states how big an issue this is becoming.

Seems pretty redundant honestly. No doubt the governor was scared, but honestly, there was nothing in the legislation that isn't already on the books. It's a state issue.

Read that piece BJ posted and it's a good one.

Yeah, I really do enjoy it here, but my wife and I had our first baby last May, so I've pretty much given up on message boards for a while. Hopefully as our schedule balances a little more, I'll be around.

I find ways to keep up...although with the wife working evenings now, I probably won't be posting much except with he is down for his nap or after bedtime
