So far, a pair of two-way radios (aka, walkie talkies) and an electric stove/heater that looks like a wood burner:

These: http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/p ... o&i=445416
With a 25-mile range, they would even reach to backwoods Concord, VA. :oldhag

In the words of every red-blooded kid of the '70s, I used to have that but my mom threw it out with my baseball cards while I was in college.

I stumbled across the family gift concept a few years back. You have to have a valid excuse to your spouse why it has value to multiple family members and you can't play this card every year. Otherwise, it rocks.

We will likely limit it to 3 onboard at once. But I like the idea!

I was Christmas shopping for Mrs. Cider today, but I also landed for myself a CD of "Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas" for 5 bucks at WalMart. In the middle of the Christmas carols, Phil prays the Gospel message in such a way that it would have made Doc proud. :pray

Share the deets on the cruise, please. My parents and Mrs. Sly's parents are taking a cruise together in a few weeks. Yes, you read that properly. We did a cruise the past spring for the first time in a decade. We won't be waiting as long for our next.

It sounds like you are an Amazon Prime household.

There must have been an incredible sale at Jos A. Bank because my family geared me up big time. But my favorite gift was my Chromecast. What an incredible little device.

The Chromecast is quite nice. I'm not using mine a lot right now, but will be once Plex unleashes the chromecasting ability to all users instead of just paid users.
