Ugliness in Seattle

Like many of you, I have been out of commission on a beach most of the week. So I just stumbled across this little clip from this past week in Seattle (yeah, you might want to turn the volume down based on the language) ...

Parading around a giant sign like that is clearly a move to antagonize. If you're just there to tell people about Jesus, there are less obnoxious ways to do it.

The reaction to it was nothing too surprising yet is completely hypocritical. Nobody looks good in the situation.

It's where they go when they leave Austin ;)

Or maybe it's where people go when Austin isn't weird enough for them.

Ugliness in more ways than one.

A little disappointed to see the guy hit back when he was being attacked but I think it more more of a reflex of when you're getting attacked. Also a little ironic to see Buddha attacking a Christian. I thought he was supposed to be a passive.

Wasn't Ugliness in Seattle a movie staring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan?

Wait...nevermind...it was this. Sleepless in Seattle.

My experience with a lot of "Buddhists" out in California has been all style and no substance. Most I knew affiliated themselves with Buddhism because they thought it would be cool but could never articulate their beliefs or knew the history of Buddhism. In addition, the ones I knew were friends of Mary Jane. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, so to speak. :-)

This is what I mean by my comment postman. I've met many Buddhists in America who knew nothing about it. Most even thought Buddha was a god, although he never claimed to be any deity.

oh yeah, without a doubt. I just didn't know exactly what you were saying. Most of the people who embrace Buddhism are peaceful, no confrontational people by nature and wouldn't do a violent thing if their life depended on it, but they are really Buddhist they just like the idea of it..

American Buddhists aren't nearly as bad as Illinois Nazis, for what it's worth.

I don't know. I actually didn't even watch the video. Just providing color commentary on what has already been said. :)

Hey, if anyone on this planet can clearly and properly articulate Buddhism, I'll give them a lollipop. And LUconn was making a joke. The fat bald dude is a career criminal.

American Buddhism usually starts with some hesher who sees something with the word Nirvana and thinks that there is some sort of reunion tour coming along or something...one thing leads to another and before you know it they're hooked...
