Since I am the only person who is hip to the music scene, or has the disposable income to go to concerts I figured I'd stat my own thread. Hey Thomas Dolby got started by starting his won fan club.

Stop 1: The Who - Quadrophenia. Already talked about it but Love Reign O'er Me was incredible live and Roger could still hit all the notes.

Stop 2: Elton John. Without question the worst venue management I have ever seen. If you think LU is bad on game days, it is NOTHING compared to this. It's so bad in fact I may never go to a show there again. Although I did learn the 'secret' to parking. Sir Elton played the night before and it looked like he was a tad under the weather. But he did a great job and played his regular 2.5 hour set with no intermission. Although he does take about 15 minutes to sign autographs of people in the front. That's sort of cool

Stop 3: REO Speedwagon, Ted Nugent and STXY. Roanoke Civic Center end of the month

Stop 4: ZZ Top May 10th in Crewe, VA. Yes. THAT Crewe on the other side of FarmVille

Our summer is open so if you know of any other concerts let me know I might check them out! :violin

Renegade?
Snow blind?
Come Sail Away?
Blue Collar Man?
Light Up? (Although I'm sure I have no idea what they mean)

Ill give you REO, but the ladies like em so.....

If you feel like travelling, Jimmy Buffett in Cinci in June is a date to look forward to. I've heard the crowd up here is great. We got lawn seats with some friends for not too much money.

I wish we were going to be down there for the Nugent/Styx show -- I'd put up with REO for the other two.

Where was Elton playing?
Elton played in Winston Salem Saturday. Which I also hear is alright for fun!

Now if the replaced REO with Night Ranger you would be pretty close!

If you're musically inclined in any way, you have to appreciate the talent of Elton John. I don't care if you don't like his music, or the fact that he wears bright neon colors all the time... he's pretty gifted, and that's worth seeing.

I think it's been awhile since they performed together.
We may plan our next trip to Vegas around Elton's Million Dollar Piano performances there.

I just saw this article.

So...looks like it may take awhile.

I have a piano in my living room so I can recreate Billy Joel or Elton John nights for my family whenever I want. So that helps.

Saw the show at Nationals Park a few years back and it was exceptional. The best thing for both men is that they're great entertainers and not just musicians.

My dad saw them a few years ago. Said the same thing. Sounds like a good show.

i watched most of a GWAR concert on tv last night. saw them once here locally. was worried when my wife woke up and was like, what on earth are you watching....i was like "GWAR DUH" she went back to sleep.

i decided to call it a night when they started shoving swords in fake hitlers butt and fake blood shot out everywhere. cuz i'm an adult and that is ridiculous.

So im a few days late

The Midwest Rock and Roll Express Tour was really good. I was really VERY surprised at the Patriotic rants by all the artists. Sure you knew Ted Nugent would wrap himself in the flag but it was surprising when STYX and REO members did the same thing. The sound was horrible for the vocals, but pretty well balanced between all the instruments. The roadies were amazing at how quickly they executed the stage changes between all 3 artists and the opening guy.
Uncle Ted can still rock. He brought up the fact that all good music came from black people then went on to do a Motown tribute that was surprisingly good. His rendition of a Bo Diddly song was incredible. Of course his best song was Stranglehold. Amazing
STYX was the best of the group. They were tight and in synch. I didn't under stand why they kept trotting out their 'original' bass player. If I was the current guy I'd be ticked. I mean ur either in or out! Their best song was LADY. It was a 'harder' version then I've heard in the past and it got a nice long ovation. They put in 2 or 3 throw away songs that I wish they would have replaced them with more familiar stuff. After they were done it was pretty much over
REO did a pretty good job. I was less impressed the next day. I was able to see their concert film on Palladia and it was pretty much the same as what I had just seen the night before. I don't just mean the set list, but all of the talking in between songs. It was verbatim! They did still sound good and really gave a good effort to keep the crowd into it. Their best songs were the last ones. Keep On Lovin You is one of my all time favs. But Ridin The Storm Out was awesome live

It was funny at about 10 or so people started to leave. The lady next to me, not my wife, she was on the other side, was surprised. Mi said we are all older now and those people either need to get to work early on the morning ( it was a Sunday night show) or they had to get back before their babysitter left!

I bought tickets for Bob Dylan's Americanarama tour in Tampa next month for the wife and I. I know Bob's vocals are pretty bad at this point and his concerts are pretty much hit and miss these days, but I've always wanted to see him. The fact that Wilco and My Morning Jacket are also on the bill means we'll at least see 2 out of 3 put on a good show.

We have some strong points (not many) but overall […]

We need to play more physical. Lost that with JSU […]

But all the comments are that he wasn't a leftist.[…]

The poor guy didn’t make it very long. :)
