America News Now spoke to dermatologist Gary Slaughter, who found camphor, phenol and menthol were the ingredients in bad lip balm. When you spread it on it seems to soothe at first, but quickly dries up and requires reapplication. Additionally, OL (which indicates alcohol) and salicylic acid are two more ingredients that may cause some people irritation. Look for these ingredients before buying. If you don't see them, you should be good to go.

The Carmex that comes in the itty bitty twist top can type container? Contains all of them, so don't waste your money on it.

Dude having lived in the Midwest I swear by Carmex. Sure it requires re application but what doesn't? Although to be honest I'm pretty much one and done with it.

The Carmex in the tube doesn't have those ingredients. At least not the tube I have. Only the can one did.

I don't use the tube. I use the original. I have never had an issue and think its the best on the market.
