According to Zombieland they have a shelf life. According to snopes, that shelf life is 25 days. But seriously, who cares? Little Debbie makes an exact replica of everything Hostess makes for cheaper. I'd love to know where those "bakers" plan to find jobs now. I'd say they're more suited to work in a factory than a bakery.

zingers are just cupcakes in a different shape. They also have some kind of strawberry cake but I think it might be seasonal. I don't know about chocolate filled twinkies.

But they have raspberry zingers, does little debbie make raspberry cupcakes? I've never seen them.

Hostess may have just as well disappeared two decades ago. I haven't seen their products around here much at all over that period of time. But Ho Hos will always be a part of my childhood memories.

I've had little debbie orange cupcakes or something like that. May not have been in cupcake form, but it was of the same consistency as a cupcake.

But unions FTW. They were protesting over having their pay cut, now they'll all lose their job unless someone buys the assets and keeps the company running...

This is the absolute truth. /thread

My wife also mentions that the Little Debbie orange "cupcake" that you mention is more like an orange Ho Ho than a cupcake. SO not the same thing at all.

You must not have been looking. According to their website, Hostess was making 500 million Twinkies per year. Somebody was buying them. It's not like their products are going away regardless. Some company will likely move in and buy up the licensing to their popular products like Twinkies, Wonderbread, etc.

yes the unions are total morons here but to be honest, hostess was on its way out waaaaaay before the unions went on strike. the illinois plants have all but shut down over the last few years and the company has been losing isle space to other companies for years.

Got to agree... a company with 19,000 employees has to have a large segment of the snack cake industry. I wouldn't be surprised to see Little Debbie try to snatch up some of the parts of Hostess. Huge job loss for America, but not as huge as the growth of the American waist that Hostess has contributed to! I don't feel sorry for the workers in the least- and I hope that this sends a message to the unions that it is time to step out into reality.

The wife and I were discussing this and decided to compare brands. Little Debbie won easily. I grew up on Raisin Cream Pies, Oatmeal Cream Pies, Fudge Rounds, Nutty Bars, Swiss Rolls, Star Crunch and Vanilla Christmas Tree Cakes.

It all depends on where you grew up. Little Debbie's strongest offering has always been Nutty Bars. Hostess has a killer lineup.

I've always been partial the peanut butter bars (the ones with the hard choclate covered, hard cookie shell), fudge rounds, oatmeal cream pies, and the fudge brownies - all varieties of the brownies.
