This articles reeks of BS! Why are we always blaming men for women's problems? I like Driscoll. but he uses absolute nonfactual information to support his opinion that guys are 100% in the wrong. The reason why women are single is for a very simple reason, they aren't appealing to guys! Don't think I am talking about all women, but some of them want a "dad" for a husband instead of a life partner.

Feminism is far more about removing women’s responsibilities than it is about increasing women’s rights.

I don't think anything is wrong with being single. I am divorced, so I think it is fine. I just don't like that fact that the man is always to blame. Are women really so beneath us that they don't share responsibility? I have seen plenty of amazing women who truly are Godly and honorable. I am sure FF users can assure me of that!

Driscoll's been getting a ton of flack about stuff like this lately. Some of the stuff that's come out about his church and church discipline is ridiculous.

I'm not really familiar with all of the celebrity pastor drama and what not, but I didn't really see anything wrong with the article. He's not blaming everything on men. It seems more like the column is addressed to men.

His theology is that in any case of a sexual sin, it is always the man's fault. Man is the stronger being and should take responsibility for the action since the woman is the weak one of the two.

Driscoll does raise a point. As someone who has had to move into a lot of responsibility in a very short time, I would agree very much that young men need to learn these things while they are in their teens...frankly, even basic concepts should be taught as early as possibile: Things like cleaning up your toys when you are done playng with them or not saying mean things to your teacher when you are a child, then as you grow into adolescence, maintaining your room, learning the value of saving money, managing a bank account (even if its with your parents' help), doing your chores, and things like that, and then as you move into your teen years, getting a job, investing your money wisely, that way, when you get to your college years and beyond, you have already had a good solid foundation laid and you are able to move into adulthood, instead of ending up like Pastor Driscoll describes in this piece.

That entire post was only two sentences. You had a 160 word sentence. That's talent.

What would it cost for you to preach at convo?

My overall point is that Driscoll is right in what he says. If parents actually taught their children some pretty basic lessons early in life, and then added to it as they grew up, you wouldnt have a bunch of momma's boys who spend all their time drinking, watching porn, sleeping around and playing Call of Duty (or whatever the current popular multiplayer game is now) in their parent's basement (or their room if there isnt a basement).

We have created a a generation (a couple really) of pansies, and we need more people like Pastor Driscoll (and even dickens...I agree that having you in convo would be much needed) preaching out and really encouraging men to not just be men, but be men of God and be the leaders that Id bet women today are begging for

Yeah, Driscoll is wrong about that, obviously. In fact, that's absurd.

Not saying the Lord can't still use him, but that's just insanely dumb.

(just reacting to Driscoll, not anything that anyone else said)

That's called PARENTING. Considering that almost half of births in America are by single moms there is an obvious lack of male role models. However, even in 2 parent houses teaching personal responsibility is not high on the list of things done.

The other problem we have, along with parents who don't parent, are people who read one article and take it as the truth while forming opinions about people without looking into them more. That's how we get a generation of pansy Christians who worship celebrity pastors.

Fair point Jon...now I am no Driscoll disciple, but he does raise a good point you have to admit

No, I don't have to admit that. I know more about the way he feels and the extents he goes to with those beliefs. It's possible to go from "good point" to "absolutely crazy" and he's done that on this issue.

yeah, this seems to be something that drives him. like, this is his passion in life: to yell at men to grow up there's a difference between having a burden and being passionate for something and making it your idol.

First, thanks for the sarcastic recommendations that I speak at convo. I will however have to respectfully decline because I do not feel that I would be able to live up to the expectations other speakers have set when they had the honor of speaking before such a noble audience of LU students.

Second, I started this after watching a movie. I watched Fireproof last night when I got off work. Great movie, but it reminded me of the social illustration that has been falsely represented against men.

The protagonist looked at porn, so he is now the most hated man on the planet. BC of that, a lot of women believe that his wife was justified for wanting a divorce. Whatever, for those who haven't seen the movie, the protagonist's wife beings to pursue a relationship with her co-worker/doctor and quits wearing her wedding ring. The movie does nothing to point out that this is the real affair! It is not the husband looking at porn, but the wife not honoring her commitment to her husband, but more importantly her promise to our God that is truly ignored, and this is a CHRISTIAN film.

I am sick of the patriarchal society being degraded. Men have their roles, women have theirs. Today, women want to be adults up until they need a man, then they begin to act like a young child. We all make mistakes, no one is perfect.

Men: Choose your mate wisely. Look for someone who values God first, you second, and others third. Live Godly, don't whore yourselves out until you find one worth marrying.

Women: Choose your mate wisely. Look for someone who values God first, you second, and others third. Live Godly, don't whore yourselves out until you find one who will marry you.

I could list countless articles about abuse, children, media, religion, and politics about the destruction of the man, which leads to the destruction of the FAMILY. The greatest thing God gave man. I need to stop.

END RANT!!!

I get tired of men diminishing the effect that looking at porn has on a marriage relationship. It is an adulterous event!! Jesus Christ said so Himself. And men were given the role of leadership by God. With that role comes greater responsibilty. I will agree that too often women are excused from their responsibilities and all the blame is heaped on the man. There needs to be the correct balancein teaching while both partners take the mindset that the success of their marriage is all up to them.

they made both sides look just as bad in Fireproof...

I am ashamed I have seen that though...terrible acting and a terrible movie but they did make both look equally as bad

You know how it is... most Christians desperately like an excuse to be like the world so everyone rushes to the hot new Christian movie which is more times than not just an awful movie.

Not sarcasm. The women need their own version of Clayton King.

I don't like Mark Driscoll at all. Not even a little bit.

I also don't believe men get blamed for too much, however.
