maybe someone more techie than me can help with this...i dropped something on my laptop keyboard and now half of my screen is not working and has vertical lines running through it. i have tried shutting it down, taking out the battery, etc. and nothing has restored the screen. the screen is not cracked and does not appear damaged...is there anything else i can try other than a new computer?! :?

you may have dome some internal damage to it. screen replacement may be an option but itll cost a pretty penny (I know when I damaged my dad's old computer in HS it was $600 for a new one

Scorcho or one of the other tech savvy folks may have a better idea though

Well, you know what I say.... If the windows is broken, buy a Mac!

Off Topic: am I the only one who thinks win 8 looks like FisherPrice made it?

I've been trying it out as a virtual machine since I could get it for a measly $15. Figured I'd give it a try sice everyone was saying it was vastly superior to the preview edition that was a complete disaster as a virtual machine. I don't like all the colors, but you can mostly live without having to deal with the tiled interface. It wouldn't be as bad if you got to pick the colors for the tiles. I mean I hate yellow, orange, and pastel blue, I don't want some color I don't like plastered on my start screen. The talk about it being fast to boot up are no lie. I turned on the virtual machine and went to take of my jacket. Before I could even get my jacket off the thing had already booted up. But overall, unless one plans to deal with the windows 8 apps a lot, i don't really see a whole lot to get the average consumer excited.
