My daughter is 2 and my wife and I are looking into putting her into a preschool type sitting this fall 1 or 2 days a week for about 3 hours each day. What is a good price for this service? There is a United Methodist Church minutes from my house which seems to have a good program. I'm not as familiar with the Methodist Church. I know others here are bound to have a background with the UMC. Any thoughts?
In your own experience what was/is a good age for toddlers to start preschool?

It's a good age for the amount of time you're looking at. We typically start ours at 3. And I wouldn't worry about using a UM preschool, they're way too young to be getting into any type of theology (except at home), and the teachers don't necessarily go to the church. Mine all went to or are going to a UM preschool here in Lynchburg, and they do a really good job. Can't really remember the price, maybe somewhere aroung $100 a month (?) for three days a week.
I didn't go to preschool myself as a kid, so I was one of those "they don't need preschool, it's a waste of money!"-types. But the kids really like the learning, and it gets them ready for kindergarten. Plus, it gives the wife a few hours a week to rest or get stuff done.

It all depends on the child when they are ready for a Mothers Day Out program. All kids develop differently.

Our two boys were both enrolled in the LCA ELC in the 2.5 year old class (the youngest group). Here is a link to the rate sheet for comparison.

Good luck with your search. Mine is getting ready to start Kindergarten and sifting through before/after school and holiday/break options has reminded me once again just how stressful of a search it can be.
