Yes, I know the odds are astronomical that I'll win, and I'm 17.6 times more likely to become president than win tonight (1 in 10,000,000 v. 1 in 176,000,000), but I figured the education system could use $5.

it is always funny to me when people say "oh its 600 million now, i should buy a ticket" as if 600 million is really all that negligible from 50 million to a person making <100k a year. like, pshh 50 million, thats not enough for the type of aspirations i have. i'll only spend a buck on a ticket when the jackpot is like 10 times that much.

That's because most people ignore or don't even think about the lottery until it's in the news and all in their face. But it is silly to only play when the number of people playing is higher and their odds are lower.

But, that makes perfect sense to the average person who regularly plays the lottery.

I agree that it is silly to play, any time. But the odds don't change based on how many people play. You only stand a higher chance of sharing the prize if you happen to hit it.

I'm sure LU would like a piece of that pie. I'd be more than happy to share it with them.
